A big shout-out to the talented, patient guys who made all these ship models. You could feel the love there with every display. I don't usually recommend museums to children, but I think many 12+ year olds would be awestruck with these detailed creations and the experience would leave a lifelong impression. Very inspirational. Definitely going to visit this museum again some day.

“Wedding & Event Venue in Savannah! New Pavilion”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2012

We happened upon the Sixth Annual: Museum in the Moonlight evening with Regency Dancers in the new Pavilion. It's hard to describe how lovely their new Pavilion is, it's huge with billowing white drapes on the sides, brick walls, water features, entrance and exit though lovely gardens, great dance floor, new bathrooms. Right next to the City Market. I think it would be terrific place for a wonderful party, wedding or wedding reception!

The museum is informative, but the displays are a bit dry. Loved the gift shop and the gardens! Don't even know how much the museum is, everything was free that night - very fun.

WOW! thank you so very much for that delightful comment on our new North Gardens at Ships of the Sea Maritime Museum! We are so happy that you were able to attend our Museum in the Moonlight 2012 event and enjoyed it! Our Assembly room is a beautiful addition for any kind of event space which we love because it is so versatile! Thank you for exploring the Maritime collection in the Museum as well as the rest of the Gardens. The normal admission price is $8. However, we do offer discounted rates for senior citizens, military, AAA, and students which lowers the price to $6. Thank you very much again for visiting and we do hope you'll be back soon!

Best!

“Do visit this museum!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2012

We visited this museum on our last day in Savannah, almost by chance as we had time to kill before going to the airport. What an amazing place.......

The building itself was fascinating, particularly the floors & striking design of the specially woven carpets. The models are excellent - I was taken with the model of the Titanic going down, with accompanying film clip of the old black & white "A Night to Remember" .

There was also some incredible footage of the sailing ship Peking rounding the horn with commentary by Irving Johnson, an awesome display of whale bone & walrus tusk carvings & interesting nautical paraphenalia - including a porcelain cat with green eyes which the ladies of the night would set in their windows to show visiting sailors they were open for business...!!

...even if you're not interested in ships. The architecture is fascinating. The ships are good , too ;-)

“Amazing models”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2012

Absolutely amazing models with incredible detail relay the stories of ship technology and Savannah city history & economics. The gardens on the grounds advertised on the museum website were not much to look at, the museum gave a $2 AAA discount - a great value.
