“Don't go expecting to see much”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2014

We paid $13.00 for the tour. And as I read these other posts...I'm wondering if the price was increased because of "tourist" season?

I'd read the book, "Midnight in the Garden of Good & Evil" (and seen the movie) and couldn't wait to see this beautiful & infamous house.

It was a definite disappointment. You walk through the lovely garden on the way into the home but once inside, you will see only some of the downstairs rooms.

The guides go into great detail about the artwork, paint colors, and architectural style -- and that draws the tour out to about 30 min. They will discuss the making of the MOVIE -- but not the actual events that led to this home becoming famous.

Save your money -- you'll see more of the house via other sources.

“Great tour, great house”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2014

This was my second tour of the house. Saw the movie and loved it. Wish we could have gone upstairs. Tour is of the small garden and 1st floor only. Still worth the money, only $12 for adults $6 for students.

“Fairly limited access to the house”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2014

This house, made famous by the book and movie (Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil), is now occupied by the sister of Jim Williams (Dorothy Kingery). Only the garden and the main floor can be viewed, and the price of the tour is a bit steep ($12.50). However, if you read the book or saw the movie, it is worth visiting.

“OK tour”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2014

I would have liked to have been able to see the basement and upstairs, but understand that family still occupies the home at times. Visitors should know that the tour only includes the garden and the main floor. The tour guide was very knowledgeable of the history and facts regarding the home and the owners.

“Totally worth it”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2014

We went on 5 or 6 house tours in Savannah and this was one of my favourites. I admit I am a fan of "The Book," so I did want to see the house that was so central to the events. Despite what others have said, our tour guide did mention "Midnight," both the book and movie, and there are photos of Clint Eastwood, Kevin Spacey, etc., on display in the house. Our guide even mentioned the "incident" that took place in the study while we were in that room. But all that aside, the house is exceptionally beautiful and the furniture and art fabulous. It feels like the elegant lived-in home that it is, rather than a museum restored to its 1860s era. True, it's only a 30 minute tour of the garden and main floor, but I think it's completely worth doing.
