“Great views!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2012

Rooms are very small and don't offer much, but despite the age of this hotel, it is clean and the service is outstanding! Mountain views are a plus. Uniontown has some nice restaurants, though the city doesn't offer much else. You pay for the view.

We stayed at the Summit Inn after touring Fallingwater. We absolutely loved the inn itself. It really brings you back to a different time. We explored every nook and cranny and admired all of the period details. We also loved the peaceful main lobby and spent a few hours in chairs by the fire, reading and relaxing. We arrived too early in the season to make use of the pools. It was also too foggy/rainy to enjoy spending time on the great porch but it is a great feature of the hotel and one that I would really enjoy on a sunnier day!

The rooms could use a little updating. While it is fun to have a historic feel in the inn and on the grounds, I enjoy a few more modern touches when I lay my head down to sleep.

We probably won't be back in this area for a while, but I would definitely stay here again if I suddenly found myself in the Laurel Highlands again!

We manage to get to the Summit Inn for a weekend almost every year. Yeah, the steps to your room can be a hassle, but it is so worth it. The rooms are a little out of date but the views are awesome and the place just oozes history and nostalgia. The restaurant has always been terrific and the staff very helpful and friendly. The Wonderbar is fun, also. Indoor and outdoor pool, too. There is so many things to do in the area that we find the Summit a great place to start the day with a great breakfast and to end a day of sightseeing, rafting, etc. We discovered some great restaurants in the area, as well.

Room Tip: You'll pay a little extra but just ask for a room with a mountain view. We like the upper floor...

Friendly staff and the people in the front desk are friendly and very help full for any issue. We really enjoyed our stay at the Submitt Inn. Also the Pancake House was a really good place to eat any meal at. Also the Korean ladie was especially nice to our family. We had so much fun in the wonderful sno park sledding hill. We would love to come back.

My husband and I stayed at the Summit Inn on our visit to Falling Water. The website made it look charming and quaint. We did not expect it to be old and dingy and the worst thing of all, we could hear the couple in the room next door's conversations. For the Saturday night stay it was very poor value. I recommend looking for other places if you want to feel like you have stayed in a quiet, clean, hotel. Ridiculous price for what it was.

Room Tip: Pick one not on the highway side.

I went here on a girl's weekend to see Fallingwater and Kentuck Knob. The Inn was very cozy and historic. I was a little concerned about some reviews I read before saying it need to be updated, and even tried to find other accomadations but I'm glad I didn't after all. It was a lovely stay and I had all the amenities I needed. It did look as if our room had been updated. The decor was very pleasant, nice artwork on walls and antique furniture.

Busy on the weekends from local parties, so parking lot filled, but not a problem. Staff was very helpful on directions.

Ther are lots of steps, on the grand front porch and stairway to rooms. It adds to the ambiance but I could see elderly not wanting to do this daily. There are no rooms on 1st level.

Overall a wonderful stay. Nice to have a great restuarant on the premises that was so good. We ventured out one night but did not find a place as nice as at the Summit.

If you are looking for a well-appointed icon of history to surround yourself in times when luxury and nature were highly valued, then the Historic Summit Inn is where you must be. As you enter, you are invited by the wafting aroma of a beautifully crackling fireplace, the open grand staircase w/Frank-Lloyd-Wright-ish banisters and stained glass windows, and a main desk w/pigeon-holed mahogany portals for room keys and guest mail--a setting directly out of a classic movie. After ringing the antique bell, which is a 'must' to do, the register is there for you to sign--as did well knowns such as Thomas Edison and Henry Ford and his son(those register pages are framed on the wall behind you), and "real" keys are put in your hand (not an electronic piece of plastic that rarely works anyhow) as you begin your mind-meld w/the past, which is richly present in every aspect of this Inn. Then step out onto the grand porch where the breathtaking view will begin your journey...you write the rest for yourselves because it will be so very easy to do. The sensory experiences and mind travel back in time are boundless.
Also, back to reality--the staff is extremely assistive and knowledgeable, the restaurant is a good choice for dining--from light apertifs to rich, full-course faire. A seat by the enormous wood-burning fireplace would be a suggestion on a chilly evening.
The grand staircase is something to savor as you transport your own wares step-by-intriguing-step; there is so much to view along this ascend to the top that you truly do not notice the lack of elevator--that's what "historical preservation" is all about.
We visited on the last open weekend in Autumn, and intend to savor the Inn and its' surroundings as a four-season trek. We suggest you do the same.
Don't bother staying at/dining at the high-priced competitor (name witheld), for we met "many" of their patrons at local restaurants as they stated they were fleeing the highly overpriced, skimpy epiucarian "lack of" delights served there searching...no, "longing" for a good, hearty meal. One does work up a healthy appetite while experiencing nature walks amongst the beauty of the locale.
Prepare yourself for this trip back in time, and be ready to reacquaint yourself w/nature. What are you waiting for?

Room Tip: So we're told, rm. 119 has a spectacular view--it is a king suite.
