Nemacolin is truly a resort who caters to the guests. All of the personnel were extremely courteous and accommodating. We had a wonderful time chatting with the knowledgeable staff and guests at the Beer Tasting and Food paring-what a great way to enjoy a brew. There is truly something for everyone in your family here.

Been wanting to try Nemacolin for years and typically visit a ski resort within driving distance from DC for New Years. Last year it was the Homestead and that would be my choice going forward.

Basically, Nemacolin does many things at a 3-star level but few at 5 as it claims except for the $325++/night price. It reminds me of a lower level cruise ship, except that it's on land, with too many activities, sights, attractions and types of food and none are really that great. For example, if they improved their spa and ski area to world-class and got rid of the crazy petting zoo with lonley wildlife miserably roaming around, it would be a significant improvement. Who needs to go on a safari in Farmington, PA? Forget the gimmicks and give me quality. This place is over-diversified and over-the-top.

Rooms= We were originally assigned a crappy room on the 2nd floor of the Lodge (probably where the cheaper rooms are vs. the Chateau and Falling Rock). We checked in late like 6PM and yet the hall was filled with sheets, trash, etc. from rooms being cleaned. There were even pizza boxes strewn around. The floor also smelled like a locker room. Our room was unacceptable due to the intense moldy/musky smell and we promptly asked to be moved. This went well and we received a room on the 4th floor appropriate to the $300+/night we were paying. Don't be shy about asking for a different room or a AAA discount.

Service=Overall, the service we received throughout Nemacolin in all areas (front desk, restaurants, spa, bellman, etc.) was excellent. The staff are very helpful, courteous and accomodating.

Food=Basically good but on the heavy/unhealthy/fattening side with limited light options at the Tavern and no where to buy fresh fruit or salads on the main campus at the Chateau/Lodge. How about a market where you can buy a banana or apple or fresh juice? Too much junk and fried foods. We had dinner at Aqueous and it was overrated, overpriced and the atmosphere is like an upscale Olive Garden.

Management=Needs to do a much better job of communicating schedule of events, restaurant info & hours, activities, etc. to guests and make sure all staff are better informed and trained of what's going on where, when, how much it is, etc. We received a lot of conflicting information and it was frustrating to plan and plan ahead. A daily calendar slipped under the door each night would help, especially re. restaurant options, hours.

Grounds=Again, they are okay but not spectacular. An investment here in a master gardener and a professional decorator to update the place would be a huge improvement.

I would only return to Nemacolin if they had a sale and rates were signifcantly less, but otherwise I find the Homestead to be a much better value, more breathtaking especially during the holidays, and overall a much more charming place.

The visit was very good. When we left, we did not get an itemized bill. Upon our return, the deposit does not seem to be reflected in the total billed. I tried to get some help, but the file is locked, and credit is closed until Monday. This is not acceptable. Reservations is locked out of the file.

I found the service to be excellent. I planned a birthday party for myself with 13 other guests. I also brought my 3 children. It was very easy to make accomodations for everyone. We made spa, sporting clay and dinner arangements. Everything went smoothly and the resort added a personal touch to make my day and evening perfect.

On the negative side, the resort is a bit hodge podge. It does not have have one theme. You could be looking at a wonderful piece of architecture and right next to it be a camel and zebra peeking out at you. One could look at it as there is something for everyone here. I feel the layout could have been planned better and still incorporate all of Mr. Hardy's interests.
Also I found some areas not to be so tidy the womens spa locker area and way past check in time dirty towels and garbage was still sitting outside the townhomes. This left a not so inviting image!

This was about our 8th or 9th visit since 2002. We come for the skiing, the food and an easy drive from DC. I think only once did we not get ski-able snow. Surprisingly good conditions at their own hill and at nearby Wisp. My daughter learned to ski at Nemacolin. She is 18 now but reminded me how much she loved tubing and kids club when she was 11-12. No crowds. Never feels crowded. Nice hill great for kids.

The hotel is always beautiful 5 star four seasons or ritz quality. The spa is amazing, but the under 16 kids winter/indoor pool needs a little work.

This is our second visit to Nemacolin and it just secured every future visit for us. We loved it so much last year we brought other family members to experience it with us this year. We love a get-away after the busy season of Christmas and Nemacolin is the place to help you unwind. If you can, stay on CLUB Level. The experience is awesome. We had the pleasure of Nate, Sally, Jackie and Brian as our Butler's and boy do they take care of you. We are in the restaurant business and know what good service is. They provide you with everything you can think of. They get you appointments when they are booked, they serve food when it not on the menu-They even ordered Pizza Hut for our kids. Try it and you will always look forward to your next visit. Our next visit will be in June-White water rafting, can't wait. Last but not least, they have the best Doggie Hotel and Spa. We do not like to travel without our dogs and the staff really were great. We could visit them anytime and the groomer really did a fabulous job and made them cuter than ever. We will always bring them as well. By the way, very inexspensive for the services they provide, $85.00 for two small dogs. (Full Grooming including cut nails.) Have fun...
