The lobby has the feeling of a sports bar, which may not be too surprising given the hotel's location, but things improve greatly once you get to your room. I think Marriott has the best quality rooms among its competitors (Hyatt, Hilton): very comfortable beds, nice, flat-screen TVs, real cream for your coffee. They also outshine the others for business people. The desks are well laid out for working and they have very comfortable chairs. Would recommend.

Close to Camden Yards. Easy walk to Inner Harbor. The room was large, the bed comfortable, nice climate control. Our room had a view of the "Bromo Setlzer" tower; a view now blocked from Camden Yards by the new Hilton being built .(boo!) We got a good room rate, so I was happy with the experience. We were able to leave the car in the parking garage after check out. I did not notice much city noise, and our room also looked out over a fire station. The only negative was TV noise from the adjacent room. This hotel is close to Old Otterbein Church--Sunday service is at 11:00 and well worth a visit. I have walked past that church for 14 years going and coming to Orioles games and never took the time to attend. The building is beautiful and the congregation very welcoming. Their sign says "come as you are". They really mean it. As for the hotel, I would stay there again.

“Overall, Pretty Good”

Stayed here again for business while I exhibited at a convention. I have stayed here twice before, so I know a little about what to expect.

1. Getting my room on a crowded weekend, took longer than expected. Got to the hotel around 12:30. Still at 4:00 the room was not ready. The manager put me on the floor where you get conceriege happy hour and breakfast at no charge. I assume this was to make up for my wait and because I did not make a fuss about the delay. My overall rating on getting to my room would be a B+.

2. Room was very clean and everything worked and looked very freshened. Rating A+

3. Had lunch at the in house resteraunt. Food was good, but the service was very lacking. Very slow service and checking on the customer to see if they needed anything, was almost non-existant. Rating C

4. Location to convention center (my main reason to be there) is walking distance. It is also close to Camden Yards and the Wharf area. Rating A

Overall I will give this stay a B+. Could have been worse, but the things that truely mattered to me, (clean room) were in top order.

“Clean and Close”

Baltimore Marriott Inner Harbor at Camden Yards

Apr 20, 2008

We were in town for the Oriole's - Yankee game over the weekend and had a very nice, clean room on the third floor. The room was smaller than other Marriott's we've stayed at, but clean is what counts. The hotel is a 10 minute walk to the water - perfect considering how crowded and noisy the harbor area can be. The staff were very nice and the housekeeping checked in on us the first day to ensure that we had everything we needed. If you go for a baseball game this is also a perfect spot - Camden Yards is literally across the street. Overall a great time - the only bummer was that the service in nearly every restaurant was poor. The Wharf Rat was the best of them all. La Tasca the worst.

“Bad Reviews Not Warranted”

I find it hard to believe the negative reviews regarding this property. We experienced hardly any of the problems mentioned in previous reviews.

We went to Baltimore this weekend for an athletic competition and stayed at this Marriott because of its proximity to the Convention Center. The Convention Center is about a block away. Well within walking distance.

Checking in was a breeze. We arrived at about 4:30 on Friday and our room was ready when we got there. We asked for an upgrade to the concierge level, which was immediately granted because of our Elite Member status.

The service at the hotel was very good. Everyone was pleasant and helpful from the front desk, to the bellhops, to the room service people. No issues whatsoever.

Our room was extremely clean. No issues with mold in the bathroom, stains on the carpet, etc. Furniture was in good condition and the TV was a nice sized flat panel LCD TV. Beds were very comfortable (as always at Marriott). All the other typical amenities were present (as expected).

Breakfast was included in our room rate and we ordered room service both days due to convenience. It was delivered hot and on time both occasions. Room service accidentally added these meals to our bill, but the front desk immediately fixed this once I brought it to their attention.

The one complaint I read that was true was regarding the safe not working. We also experienced this and tried to have it fixed, but engineering never got to it. Apparently many of the rooms (ours not included) were having air conditioning issues. We found this out from an engineering department staff member we ran into in the hallway. This was not a huge concern. We just ended up carrying our limited valuables with us instead.

The concierge helped us with reservations at a restaurant we wanted to go to and got us a free shuttle ride there. He also gave us one adult and one student ticket for their brand new Sports Hall of Fame near Camden Yards, for free.

Parking in the garage was added to our room bill and worked out well for us since we were able to leave our car parked in the garage on Sunday well after we checked out, giving us time to still mill around the Inner Harbor without having to take the car and find new parking.

Camden Yards and the Inner Harbor are withing walking distance. Camden Yards is a couple of blocks over. The concierge lounge at the Marriott used to have a great view over the stadium, but construction of a new Hilton is now blocking its view. The Inner Harbor and Aquarium are about 8 blocks away. About a 15-20 minute walk - not bad at all really.

One restaurant I highly recommend going to is Roy's. It's on Harbor East and is well worth a visit. They serve Hawaiian fusion cuisine and are extremely kid friendly for the type of food they serve. Great sushi, great main courses. Get the pineapple upsidedown cake for dessert.
