“Harbor Court”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2013

We recently stayed at the Harbor Court in Baltimore. The location of this hotel is outstanding. Request a water view if you stay here. The hotel is beautifully decorated and the public areas well maintained. We were in a corner suite which is beautiful and very large. Unfortunately, the main bathroom had significant black mold growth in the shower. In addition, there were very large (4-6") chips of paint peeling away from the ceiling in the master bedroom. We have stayed many times at this hotel and have loved each stay. I guess it is now time to move on. The Harbor Court was the only truly fine hotel in the inner harbor within walking distinct to many activities. There is now a Four Seasons and we will stay there next month when we visit.

Room Tip: Request a corner suite.

This property used to be a high-end hotel called the Harbor Court; one of my favorite places to stay a few years ago. It was very luxurious, refined, (and expensive). I stayed here recently, and (while the location is still good) its really just a shadow of its former self, now run by Royal Sonesta. My room was large and quiet, but they took most of the furniture out, leaving a small desk, dresser with a small TV, and a chair. Fitness center was good, well equipped, and the price (group rate) was lower too. So I guess you get what you pay for. Overall, its an OK place to stay, but not really anything special vs. the other large hotels around the Inner Harbor. And its not a high-end property anymore, so just be advised. Sorry to see the old Harbor Court gone.

The service at the Hotel was excellent, all the staff were very helpful and super professional. Jonathan was the most pleasant individual I have ever met. There should be more Jonathan's in the world.

large room, great location. Very poor bar/lounge. Windows to bay view dirty. No happy hour snacks. There was little help at front desk.
Visitor's center was across street. Take a walking tour. Fells Point historical has great tours.

Dear Avanti1, thank you for your review and sharing your experience on TripAdvisor. Please accept my apologies for the experience in Explorers and the service you received at the front desk. As witnesses by many favorable reviews on TripAdvisor, the service you received was atypical, and unacceptable to our standards. I have passed along your feedback to the appropriate managers as well. Thank you again for your review.

This is the first time that tripadvisor has let me down. In Baltimore for a convention and selected the hotel based on reviews. The hotel is worn and not set up for a business traveller. The restaurant also fell below expectations.

Loved the price, the nice new-looking decor, good-size bedroom and bathroom, clean and common areas attractive and spacious. Our room had a large bay window overlooking the harbor. Loved it!

Internet service good. We did not eat in the hotel but used the bar/lounge area for tea and drinks. It is unfortunate that this lounge is a bit out of the way and not easily come upon accidently. There is also a coffee shop on the ground floor, but to our great disappointment they did not carry any 'regular" teas - only weird-flavoured ones. And the young girl attending the counter knew nothing about tea. Our greatest disappointment was the fact that 48 hours notice was required to order an afternoon tea (scones, jam, etc.) and we arrived too late to give notice. We had had this treat before when it was the Intercontinental and it was delicious. I presume that the volume is insufficent to hold this as a regular event. Very convenient to the Inner Harbor and underground parking. Would stay there again with our own teabags LOL. Beds comfortable once you were in them but they are TOO HIGH!! I hate HIGH BEDS!! Got the impression the staff was fairly new, but service was pleasant and friendly. Beautiful courtyard can be seen from the bedroom corridors - unusual.

Room Tip: Pretty sure our room was number 623. On the 6th floor overlooking the harbor- great room with bay w...

I booked this hotel to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Such a disappointment! The best thing I can mention was the door men greetings every time we went in and out of the hotel. The room was a disaster! Paint on the fixtures peeling, Wallpaper peeling of the wall, TV in bathroom not working, Nightstand with dried food (we hoped) stuck to it. All of the furniture had years of dust in the grooves and the outlets were dark and grimy with dirt. Some of the outlets were so old and loose they did not hold the plugs when plugged in. When I reported the problems to the manager she informed me that they were an old property and have not been refurbished in many years. That is not a valid excuse for dirt and things like peeling wallpaper or paint chipping that can all be fixed with maintenance. A wet rag could used thoroughly would have cleaned the dust and dirt from the furniture. They moved me to a room with a better view but not much better in the way of condition. At that point I figured all the room were in the same poor condition and didn't want to change rooms again. Hyatt, Sheraton, Hilton, Marriott and Renaissance all within walking distance to this property. I would have thought they would try a little harder with plenty of competition around but just seemed not to care. Very poorly managed property in my opinion!
