“Charming hotel, very artistic and excellent service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2013

We stayed here for one night 07/16 while in Baltimore, and we loved it.

The room was very spacious with a touch of old fashion. Service was better than fantastic, thanks to Adonna and Jonathan at the front desk who were very kind and helpful. We will definitely stay here again, whenever in Baltimore.

We also had salmon at the explorers Lounge for dinner, which was really good.

Thank you for such a relaxing experience,

Adel & Jillian

Hello Adel & Jillian, We really appreciate your taking time to submit a great five star review. Thanks for the kind words about Adonna and Jonathan, too. While the guestrooms are very charming, we feel the staff at the Royal Sonesta Harbor Court are the best in Baltimore and make our hotel a great place to stay. Explorers Lounge has delicious, fresh fare, with a rotating seasonal menu. We look forward to seeing you next time you are in Baltimore.

Formerly an Intercontinental, this Royal Sonesta has lots of special touches a normal franchise might not. The infamous Intercontinental motor court was tucked off the street and offered lots of privacy from traffic or bad weather. Once inside, the overall décor of the lobby, bar, and public areas was very nice. We spent one night in the second floor lounge and had a great time! Hotel staff was friendly and accommodating. There is a fitness facility and pool on the seventh floor. Our harbor view was nice -- but since the hotel is only eight stories high, our 3rd floor room was more of the road than actually looking out over the water. Inside the guest suites, the marble bathrooms are very pretty and in pristine condition. The drapery fabric and chair upholstery was slightly weathered though. While the age of the hotel can visibly be seen, it was still an enjoyable stay in a perfect Baltimore location. (Plus, Management told me they were starting a complete renovation of all rooms very soon.) I would stay here again.

Room Tip: If splurging on a harbor view room, make sure and request a higher floor. The lower floors do not o...

Dear Blake L, thank you for taking the time to share your experience at the Royal Sonesta Harbor Court. Sonesta started managing this hotel a little over a year ago, and the hotel will indeed undergo a full renovation in the near future. We will maintain some of the old world charm, but will be good as new very soon. The Royal Sonesta Harbor Court is actually the only hotel on the Inner Harbor with unobstructed views of the water. Thanks again for your review. We hope to see you next time you are in Baltimore.

Stayed at the Royal Sonesta for 1 night. It overlooks the harbor, which is a great location to be. Rooms were nice and spacious. Front desk was also very helpful. Cabs are really easy to get when leaving so if nots in walking distance, dont worry.

We Stayed at this hotel for 5 nights at the end of June as an in between school and camp drive to vacation. We went with our three kids ages 15, 13 and 10. The hotel rooms were very large, we were on the 8th floor. When you step outside of this hotel, you are literally on the harbor. We checked in at about 2 PM and our rooms were ready. We chose to do self parking to safe time and money. The hotel give you a self parking pass and it is located in the same lot as the valet parking. It is attached to the hotel. Our rooms included breakfast which was quite nice and on the weekend mornings we had a choice to order off the menu or the buffet. The only reason I would not give this hotel and excellent rating is because on our second night some loud kids were coming back from being out all night and knocked on our door at 2 AM and then ran away and scared the living you know what out of us! We notified the front desk the next morning and they said they would look at the surveillance tape to see who it was, they were quite nice about it. We were able to walk to Camden Yard for a baseball game one night and we also took a speedboat ride on the Seadog which was great. There is a great restaurant on the water which is a few steps from the hotel and it is called the Rusty Scupper. The kids loved the small but convenient indoor pool and jacuzzi at the hotel. All in all we would stay at this hotel again and would definitely recommend it.

Room Tip: Don't request extra towels and blankets the same night that an NBA playoff game is on. It took t...

Dear Steph003, thank you for taking the time to submit your review. It sounds as though your entire family enjoyed your stay at the Royal Sonesta Harbor Court. Our location is a tremendous asset to us, particularly our close proximity to Camden Yards and the Inner Harbor. Please accept my apologies for the rowdy guest that disturbed your family; it is atypical of a stay at our property and we have investigated the matter. Thanks again for the review, and we hope to see you on your next visit to Baltimore.

My wife and I stayed at the Royal Sonesta with our two children - a toddler and a pre-schooler. We had a singe room with a king sized bed and a cot. A few highlights: (1) The cot turned out to be a small twin bed that looked as comfortable as our bed. (2) The room was spacious with plenty of space for the kids to play. (3) Our room was on the third floor and overlooked the roof. I didn't expect much - but when I opened the window I was surprised to find a beautiful roof garden with a sculpture in the center that made all the difference. We loved it. (4) The room was very quiet. They did a good job with this - if you're not looking at the harbor, at least you're not facing a noisy street. (5) Access to the inner harbor. (6) A small thing that made a difference. woke up in the middle of the night and needed an Aspirin. Everything was closed. When I went down to the desk they gave me a free pack. (7) The attendants in lobby were helpful, recognized us on sight and our kids were happy to see them. (8) Access to the inner harbor and shops made the price a great investment. (9) On-site coffee shop with excellent espresso. (10) And this is a big one - we forgot our laptop in the hotel safe and didn't realize it until the NEXT DAY. I called the hotel and they put me right through to security who resolved the matter within a few hours. I thought if they found it, the best they could do was hold it until someone I designated picked it up. But, when they returned my call, they said "We have your computer - how fast do you want it shipped back to you?"

I'll stay again. Most of the time hotels are a means to an end - a place to stay while I'm doing other things. The Royal Sonesta Harbor Court wasn't just a place to stay - it was part of the vacation.

Room Tip: Stay away from service elevators if you can. We were not near one but I heard they were loud. The ro...

The location is great, and the decor is upscale but relaxing, but the staff was the difference! They were warm and welcoming, and they went above and beyond to make sure my needs were met. I highly recommend a stay at the Royal Sonesta!!

We pulled up in the courtyard and were immediately greeted by Marc. He was very friendly. He gave my husband directions on where to park and then he carried our bags to our room and gave us local maps and info on the area. The room had a front foyer with a small sink/bar vanity. The bathroom was a nice size and had coconut/mango toiletries. We had a room with 2 beds, it was very roomy. It was a traditional style with Burgundy floral carpet. Ours had many large stains. Our view was nothing to bother even opening the window to. It was either looking down to the people smoking before entering the hotel or you could see in everyone elses hotel rooms and see what they are doing, it actually reminded me of a hospital room view. I was absolutely shocked when I saw the information on the wall regarding rates and was blown away with the price our room was at $750 a night. Having stayed at many hotels in other large cities which were comparable and even better recently no way would I ever pay this amount. Sure it was close to the harbor and the staff was friendly and rooms were clean for the most part however the rate seems highly inflated and for this reason alone I would not stay here again unless using my airline miles again.
