The hotel lobby looks impressive. Beyond that, my experience with the property was a real downer. The rooms are spare, the mattresses are bad; they're old and lumpy. The pillows are uncomfortable.. Electrical outlets in the room are scarce and the bathroom is pretty tired.

The management of this property appears to be poor. They gave me the wrong room-- a single king when I requested a double. I am traveling with my 18 year old son who was with me at check in. Despite that, the woman at the front desk gave me a single bed. Not very attentive.

Cookies are Doubletree's signature item. However, no cookies were available at checkin or late in the evening.. The front desk said that the kitchen didn't make them today. Ridiculous. Tried reaching the front desk by phone....no answer.

Last thing....Diamond members are supposed to receive water in their rooms or be given it at the front desk at the time of check in. No water available.

Beware....the place needs a face lift and far better manangement.

This hotel is just ok. We had a little trouble finding it as it's kind of tucked into the street and you really have to look for it. We parked in the garage immediately, as the reception area was full and there was little parking on the street. The lobby is nice, but the hallways and rooms themselves are worn. The room was spacious and the bed comfortable except for the pancake-flat pillows. Bathroom was clean. Service was fair. I forgot my toothbrush and one was brought immediately. But I also requested creamer for my coffee (at the same time!). The girl who brought the toothbrush said someone else would bring the creamer. No one ever did. After reading reviews of the hotel, it seems the restaurant staff leaves the most to be desired, but still, if she was already making the trip to the room, you'd think she could have rounded some up along the way, I can't imagine the restaurant is very far from the front desk.....we also asked the concierge to call a cab, with no luck (no answer at any cab company?) so we ended up hailing one at the corner intersection. Parking at this hotel is far and away my biggest complaint. As I mentioned, we parked at the garage right away because there didn't seem to be any other options at the time. We decided to take a cab downtown to avoid the hassle of bailing out the car and having to pay (again) to park downtown. In hindsight, we probably should have just driven. I'm not in the habit of using a cab. The one way, 3 mile, 15 min ride was about a $12 fare. The area of town that the hotel is located in is not a high tourist area and parking should not cost this much to begin with ($18/20 overnight), it is more than the cost of parking downtown in most cases. But I think it should be provided to hotel guests at no charge. Overall, our cost of transportation soared because of this hassle. We travel to Baltimore regularly and outside of the downtown Inner Harbor area, I've never had to pay for parking. I most likely not stay at this hotel again because these costs outweighed what we saved by staying here.

  • Liked — Location was in nice neighborhood and was a convenient drive to downtown attractions
  • Disliked — Paying for and the hassle of parking at the hotel
  • Tips/Secrets: — Go ahead and pay to get your car out of the hotel garage. The drive downtown is simple and not worth the price of the cab fare.

We stayed at the Inn for a friends wedding in Baltimore. There were quite a few guests from our party staying and initially all looked well. The hotel is modern and the lobby was good looking. The room was ok, and pretty spacious.

So what was the problem ? - A major lack of customer care...

I see another recent reviewer had a similar experience; it felt like the manager was away on holiday and the the place was unravelling! Staff were unhelpful and sometimes downright surly!

Room service was used once - the phone was answered and my wife was asked to wait while the handset was put down and she heard a 10 min converstion while the staff continued what they were doing before they were rudely interrupted! After finally calling the duty manager the salad ordered did arrive about an hour after it was wanted. The finished plate was then put outside the door where it wasn't picked up for at least 12 hours...

Coming from the UK I hoped for the 'legendary' US customer service, especially staying in part of the Hilton group, but was disappointed.

I was lucky enough to have my bill taken care of by a friend when we checked out. I am now trying to work out why another $150 was debited to my credit card the day after I left with no notice, invoice or authorisation.

Not the best hotel experience ever - but not the worst either...

This hotel has gone down hill. I recently stayed here on business and had a terrible experience. I reserved a microwave for my room 2 week prior and when I arrived (after a long flight) I was told that the they were all out and the microwaves were first come first serve. When I inquired about why they took a "reservation" for a microwave, they said you can "reserve" one but they are first come first serve. Does this make sense to anyone???? I would have stayed up the street if I had known, since I am on a special diet and need to prepare specific food.
Next I went to get ice from the ice machine and found out all the ice machines were out of order (all floors!). I went to sleep hoping to have a better day tomorrow. Instead I woke to construction crews. Next I order fruit and coffee for breakfast (that's all) and 45 minutes later it still had not been delivered. I called the front desk and they indicated that they did not know where it was. I told them to cancel the order since I needed to leave for work at this point. 10 minutes after I cancelled the order, the waiter arrived. He told me that no one had put the order in and he doesn't understand what took so long since it only takes a couple of minutes to prepare.
I called Hilton since I am a Hilton HHonors memeber and they told me there was nothing they could do..........I'll never stay at this hotel again!!!

To top it all off, they charged my room for the microwave I never received, in the end!!!!!

Check-in was very smooth with no problems: one cookie, and I was told my breakfast coupon was under the door already. There were two large bottles of water in the room (free for HH Honors Diamond).

As a Diamond, I was upgraded to a junior suite -- basically a small ajoining room with a loveseat and desk (no extra TV). There was a coffee pot and extra sink, though. The bathroom was big with a jacuzzi tub, heat lamp, and extra goodies (facial scrub, sun screen, shoe shine, makeup remover, etc).

There was free wireless Internet in the room, which was nice. The heated indoor pool was also nice, in an atrium with a nice view.

The only problem I had with the room was with the hot water in the morning ... it took about 5-10 minutes to warm up.

Breakfast with a disappointment. The coupon I got (HHonors Diamond) was for $10 off breakfast ($20 if you had two people). Breakfast was held in a temporary meeting space. There was no menu, just the buffet ... which cost $14.95! A friend was picking me up and I had him come and sit with me. Since he'd already eaten, we told the hostess there was two of us, but only one of us was eating. She nicely allowed us to have one $14.95 meal for free. But if he wasn't there, breakfast would have cost $4.95 ... and there was no other option.

At checkout, I was double-charged for my room, but I was told that was a computer error that happens often (fix it, perhaps?).

The place itself is interesting. There's just two floors of rooms, the rest are condos. It's across the street from Johns Hopkins. There's a nice Bar/coffee shop/vegan-friendly restaurant across the street (there was also a room service option at the hotel, but that's it within walking distance). Mt. Washington and Hampden are neighborhoods within a 5 minute drive that have nice restaurant options, and the inner harbor is about 15 minutes away by car.

Overall, I'd stay there again.
