“The value here? The staff!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

The review of the Brookshire Suites begins and ends with the outstanding staff. Rarely does a hotel's employees have such an impact on a visit, but they truly did here. First and foremost, Yolanda was simply amazing. She could not have been more helpful and accomodating, and she seemed thrilled to help us make our stay as special as possible. It was as if we were her personal guests. Tyler was also a great help, and really contributed to the quality of our stay. I cannot emphasize enough how these two employees improved our trip- they were eager and able to help when asked, and that seems like such a rarity these days. The Brookshire Suites is lucky to have them! Thank you!
The hotel itself was excellent as well. A short walk to the Inner Harbor. Well appointed. Interesting design and decor. Great continental breakfast. Only two very minor complaints: a perfumed scent in the lobby (but I admit I am very sensitive to smell, so it's possible someone else wouldn't even notice), and a difficult-to-flush toilet. Again, I must note that these issues were so minor that it didn't even cross my mind to bring them to anyone's attention. If I had, I am confident that they would have been dealt with immediately.
Thank you for a wonderful anniversary weekend, and special thanks to Yolanda and Tyler! Give them raises- they are surely deserved! :)

We wanted to stay in the inner harbor area of Baltimore but everything was so pricey. We found this hotel for $170 per night and grabbed it as the website said only two rooms left at this price. It looks kind of funky and edgy when you first walk in. The rooms are very small and can only accommodate a queen size bed. The bathrooms are ridiculously small and a bit worn looking. But it suited our needs and was the right price. You can walk to the harbor and it serves a hot continental breakfast. It also has a wine and beer bar I. The lobby that serves local brews and wine. We sat for a drink (I would not recommend any of the wine) and there were flying bugs everywhere.
The parking cost $36 for the night which was about what all the other more expensive hotels charged.
The bottom line. Good price...you get what you pay for.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor not near elevator or ice machine located on 8th floor. Bring your own bottle...

I came here with a group of friends, one of whom booked the trip, so I had no idea where we were staying before this trip to Baltimore. I was happy with this hotel. We stayed on the 5th floor- our view was just the top of a building next door and surrounding buildings. We opted to use the overnight valet service since we were just planning on walking to the Harbor and using the taxis to barhop later in the evening. The guys who ran the valet were very helpful, courteous, and funny. The lobby is very "mod" and clean. Our room was nice and easily fit five of us. We liked that there was both a fridge and a microwave in the room. Nice big TVs and comfy beds, although they're on the smaller side for a hotel room. For some inexplicable reason, there was a giant portrait of Adam Duritz (lead singer of Counting Crows) in our room, and a portrait of another rocker I couldn't name hanging right over the toilet.... so that was a little strange. Breakfast was included but left a lot to be desired- basically fruit, yogurt, cereal, and a pan of cheesy eggs and sausage that had gone cold... although the view from the breakfast room was nice. Our service in the lobby was good, check-out took a little longer than expected but they were kind enough to split our check between two cards.

The harbor is only two blocks away, a very easy walk.

KTurc,

Thank you for your review of Brookshire Suites on TripAdvisor.com.

As you know, the Brookshire Suites is a hotel designed around all things Baltimore. From the portraits you mentioned, to the "street art" graffiti in the Lobby. The artists are Baltimore born rock stars, Adam Duritz, Mama Cass and Frank Zappa. We commissioned local world-renown artist Michael Owen to do the artwork in the lobby and the car port.

Being one of the very few independent hotels in Baltimore, we wanted to provide our guests with a richer sense of Baltimore and not be like those chain hotels where everything looks and feels the same.

We're in a superb location and do what we can to provide the most unique guest experiences.

Thank you for choosing Brookshire Suites. We appreciate your business.

My boyfriend and I travel a good bit for work and personal reasons. When we travel together, Baltimore is one our favorite local spots to go, being only an hour away and a half away from home. We have stayed in a couple different hotels in the inner harbor and in the fells point area. Brookshire was a pleasant surprise. Clean rooms, friendly staff, and a great location. We were lucky enough to get room 903. It's a corner room over looking the city block and out towards the harbor. Yes there is a bit of street noise as mentioned in other reviews. Remember you are staying in a city peeps. It's not horrible. Drink a glass of red wine before bed and you'll sleep like a baby. I will definitely being staying at the Brookshire again, especially if they keep up the great service, rooms and reasonable rates. Be sure to stop into Tir Na Nog, just a block away and say hello to wee Joe for me :-)

After reading the reviews I decided to book this hotel, unfortunately it did not meet my expectations. First, the hotel was formally a "PARKING GARAGE" That would explain a few things !!
The ceiling in the rooms we extremely low; I'm 5'5 and I could basically touch them. The bathrooms were tiny, (with your arms extended you could touch the walls) furthermore the ceiling was even lower; giving you that "tomb" effect. For a newer hotel we found a lot of deferred maintenance .. Cracks, chips.., tile missing caulk, stains....etc. the service was average... BUT the location ONE block from the Inner Harbor was the only selling point. Oooooh, I forgot to mention we had the smallest window--- Won't stay here again...!

WorldTravelerAce,

Thank you for your review of Brookshire Suites on TripAdvisor. We do appreciate your feedback.

We renovated the hotel in February 2014. The guest rooms were completed. We hope to replace the wall paper in the bathrooms in the near future. As the granite counter-tops are not very old and are in good shape they most likely will stay as they are.

Not all of our rooms have small windows or low ceilings. Unfortunately the suite you were assigned to did, and I do apologize. Most of our rooms have very large spacious bay windows and some rooms even have three to four windows. If you like a lot of natural light, be certain to reserve a "corner suite".

Thank you for choosing Brookshire Suites. We do appreciate your business.

This hotel has the feel of a quirky boutique hotel and service like you are in a home. Every person you meet on staff is friendly and takes pride in assisting their guests. The rooms are large with a separate bedroom and living area with cool photos of celebrities from the Baltimore area and white leather. Literally felt like a rock star.

The only reason I didn't give a five star is the massive attention to detail didn't extend to the bathroom. I could tell there had been renovation done to improve all the rooms and someone just didn't go all the way with the improvements.

The bartender in the lobby bar was fantastic with tips for restaurants and helped us numerous times with obtaining cabs, directions and even greeted us each morning at the free delicious breakfasts!

Really enjoyed our stay.

This hotel is a block away from the Inner Harbor, and for a little better rate than the hotels right on the water you get a nice place to stay in a decent neighborhood. Staff was helpful and the "valets" were very good. A little older building that has been renovated into a "mod" hotel with nicely appointed rooms. We ordered a king bed and were surprised to find a very decent sized suite with a bedroom, living room and kitchenette.

It was an easy walk to the USS Constellation, Tir Na Nog, M&S Steakhouse, Ripley's, Bubba Gumps, etc. Just a little further away was Phillips, Hard Rock, the Aquarium, Dicks Last Resort, and others. Not much of a view from the room, but we walked down to the harbor every day, so it really didn't matter.

I need a little more back support with a firm bed, and the sleep here was great. My wife also thought the bed was very good.

Fridge, microwave, coffee maker, etc. Plush towels, and the shower was decent. The continental breakfast was comprised of the usual items, but the eggs and sausage were a little above average.

Nice little bar in the foyer, serving local beers and wines during a happy hour.

If you're shopping for a little better rate but don't want bargain basement that sacrifices all the quality, this might be a good place for you to check out.

Thank you for your review of Brookshire Suites on TripAdvisor. We appreciate your feedback and your mention of all the things there is to do in Baltimore...we describe ourselves as being on the 50 yard line at a football game....harbor east at one end zone and the stadiums at the other.

And you're right, there are tons of independent restaurants for people to visit. Over 250 shops and restaurants within walking distance.

Thank you for choosing Brookshire Suites. We do appreciate your business.
