“Good Place for Indian food newbie”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2013

This was my first time experiencing Indian food on a brief trip to Baltimore to visit my sister. She suggested this place and stated that it was the best despite the neighborhood and people surrounding it. Once you walk inside, you feel like you are in a completely different world. Very relaxing and comforting. Food is great. So much so that once I returned home, I sought out a similar place and was sadly disappointed. Went for the lunch buffet and plan to go again once I go back to Baltimore.

“Worth Finding”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2013

The earlier review prepared me for the scruff of people hanging out by the building. Just ignore them and you will be rewarded with a great meal and friendly service. The Bollywood film playing in the background was great fun!

“New favorite Indian”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2013

A little intimidating getting there but push through the pack of deadbeats that seem to always be outside and you'll be rewarded. Cool interior, very friendly staff and most important, really good lunch buffet.

All the food, especially the vegetables and salad were very fresh and high quality. Not overly spiced, heavy or salty. All the usual favorites. There was a fish curry which wasn't my favorite but it was nice to see them try a more atypical buffet item.

Only complaint would be the bathroom (at least the men's room) which is in need of a revamp. There was a "pardon our work" sign that looked like it had been up for a while. Still, overall a nice experience

“Consistently good.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2011

I've eaten at the lunch buffet here with my colleagues about once a week for the past few years. The buffet lunch is consistently good quality. The samosas, saag paneer and channa masala are excellent, and the aloo ghobi is some of the best I've had. I always go back for seconds.
Tandoori chicken can be dry, but chicken or fish curry is good and they sometimes have lamb. Dessert is rice pudding with almonds and cantaloupe. Service is above average. For $11, you can fill up on great Indian food.
Clientele comes from surrounding businesses and University of Maryland, Baltimore grad schools, medical school and hospital. About the neighborhood, it's right there at Lexington Market..one of the oldest city markets in the country. MemSahib has a separate street entrance (Eutaw Street), but it's in the same building as the market. If you're intimidated by crowded, inner city neighborhoods, go with friends. It's worth it.
