“Relaxing and wonderful way to do Baltimore!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2011

We have stayed here before, and this time was even better than the last. We received complimentary breakfast in our room (I made the supervisor laugh when checking in) the first day. Love the Charm City Circulator bus stop (free bus that takes you all over Baltimore) next to the inn. Be sure and park in a parking garage since car thefts are common every where in Baltimore. Safe to travel around the neighborhood and within walking distance to Inner Harbor and many historical locations. Bring your own liquor since the closest place to get a six pack or bottle is 5 blocks.

The 1840's Carrollton Inn was a perfect place for my husband and I to celebrate our 5th anniversary. We arrived late on a Thursday night, almost 11pm, but were quickly checked in and provided with information on places nearby where we might grab a late-night bite to eat.

Service was great all weekend - from tips on how to get around on the free circulator, to breakfast delivered to our room on time, we were well taken care of.

The room, and entire Inn, was clean, ornate, lush, comfortable and very special. The grounds are gorgeous. The location is perfect for getting around to all the major attractions in the downtown area.

During your stay, I recommend going to Lexington Market to eat crabcakes at Faidley's, exploring the USS Constellation in the Inner Harbor, and having a few cold drinks by the fireplace at the Whistling Oyster in Fells Point.

Overall, we loved Baltimore, and the 1840's Carrollton Inn was a huge part of our great experience. We can't wait to visit again!

On October 26 and 27 we stayed again at the 1840's Carrollton Inn, the place is fantastic and the staff is great. The rooms are top notch, the service is great and the people are so helpful. I am sure we will be going back there again.

This B&B was a great pleasure. The staff were uniformly helpful and pleasant. The room was special with mostly antique furniture and care taken in cleaning and decor.

The building is an old residence of prominent Baltimoreans with a very nice courtyard where breakfast can be served the weather cooperates.

As an example of helpfulness, I needed a space to work for a few hours after I had checked out. They set me up in the private dining room with power and wireless internet and offered tea and coffee.

The room rates are not cheap, but very good value for a location very near Baltimore's harbor. The hotel is one block from a main street, though, and in a neighborhood that is recovering.

One tip: If you book the day before your stay, the rooms are half price. If you can afford to take the chance, that is worth it.

my husband & i recently stayed there and although it's in a great spot it's very loud in the rooms facing the street. i'm not sure about the others but the constant traffic was bothersome and sometimes a rumbling truck would be so loud it was almost like thunder. besides that, the room was great. comfortable beds, nice jacuzzi tub. fireplace was completely fake however so that was disappointing. breakfast was just "okay" and it wasn't really something i looked forward to.

with all of that said i'd probably stay there again if i was in Baltimore for some reason

My husband and I stayed at the 1840 Carrollton Inn for our 21st wedding anniversary and I would seriously consider making this an annual tradition. We stayed in the beautiful Independence Suite. The suite featured a sitting room, a large, beautiful bathroom with a double hot tub and separate shower. The king size bed was the MOST comfortable bed I have EVER slept in. We had a delicious breakfast in the morning.

It was very close to the Inner Harbor and we could walk around the harbor and enjoyed dinner and drinks out on the town and then walked back to the Inn. The only downside was that the parking was a few blocks away, which wasn't convenient for loading and unloading our bags. It's also along a busy street, so there's some street noise from passing cars. But honestly, it didn't bother us at all.

We really enjoyed our stay and would go back.

We celebrated my wife's birthday the weekend of 10/17 at this B and B and we had the best time. We stayed in the Scholar Room. The inn and our room were beautiful, clean, and charming. The bed was soo comfortable. We had the best time here. The staff was amazing. There is a unique culture of friendliness and cordiality that seems to be engrained in each employee at the inn and comes across in each and every interaction.

This inn is perfect for celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, or simply visiting baltimore. I highly recommend it.
