We chose Cheesecake Factory while vacationing in the Inner Harbor because we wanted something familiar and consistent with our previous experiences. While I love trying out new restaurants, sometimes you just want tried and true (especially when eating with children). Unfortunately, we left disappointed due to poor service and attitude from our server.
As you would expect from a chain restaurant, the food was cooked to expectations - no complaints there. We ate lunch about 2pm on a weekday - no wait as the lunch crowd had mostly dissapated. From the moment we sat down, we felt rushed as we were asked almost immediately if we were ready to order. No offer of drinks first, no offer of appetizers. We ordered and the food was delivered quickly but that was the last interaction we had with our server. No bread plates were delivered, my water was never refilled..I did want something else to drink but my server never returned until we were finished with the meal. She gave us a cursory "thank you" and left us the check.
I would have chalked it up to a busy, hectic day if the table next to us didn't have such great service that I watched with envy. Their server checked back frequently, refilled drinks, offered boxes without being asked, and interacted cherrily with the guests. I didn't even know they had a kids menu until I saw the next table offered one - my daughter is 11 years old and I ordered her meal from the main menu because I didn't have a choice. Perhaps service doesn't have to be great when you are as busy as this location is; however, management should care that customers are not going to repeat if they don't feel welcomed. We will definitely skip a return trip to this location based on poor customer service.
