“Great food next to an Art Museum”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2013

This was our first time dinning at Gertrudes. We had come for brunch one other time and liked it very much so figured it was worth a dinner trip. We were not dissapointed. We started with the Can't Believe It's Not Crab Cakes zucinni fritters. They were crisp and yummy.
The wines by the glass were bargain priced and excellent. We started with Hubel Gruner Veltliner and then tried the Fourteen Hands Merlot. Both were around $7.50 or lower. For entrees we had the crab stuffed portabello mushroom and catfish. The mushroom won the best in show award. We both had dessert as it was a special occasion. I had the chocolate sampler with four chocolate goodies that were all great, and my wife had the ice cream and sorbet sampler. One of these days we will go back and check out the museum.

“Delightful Preview of the New Year”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2013

Gertrude's has long been a family favorite for dinners and lunches after trips into Baltimore City or to the Museum but the staff really exceeded all expectations for the New Year's Eve celebration. While melodic guitar followed us to our courtyard view seating, the festive chatter of other patrons and the aromas of full plates gave us a sensual preview of the feast to come. Lovely full table settings, helpful, attentive, and speedy waiters and staff, the subtle but professional decorations added to the atmosphere. The menu was plentiful with a variety of drinks, appetizers, main courses, sorbets, and desserts-each uniquely prepared with sauces and accompaniments. We left the first seating completely satisfied that this was the perfect New Year's Eve, a portent of many lovely celebrations in the New Year.

“NOT MUCH BETTER”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2012

Really good food, good service and a beautiful outdoor scenery . We go as often as we can...we went for the holidays last year and I hope we get to go while their holiday decor is still up...it's just a lovely place to go and the food is yummy.

“Fine dining in a nice museum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 17, 2012 via mobile

Situated within the same building as the Baltimore Museum of Art is Gertrude's. They serve up delicious homemade bread to start and we have had several dishes we have enjoyed. Next to the restaurant is a patio with sculptures so if it is warm enough outside you can even sit and admire the art. Great place!

“Art plus great food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2012

This was our first visit to Gertrude's but it definitely won't be our last. As we approached the restaurant which is located in the Baltimore Museum of Art, there was a very talented musician playing guitar. The dining room was dimly lit with white cloths, flowers and candles on the tables. While the ambiance and service were top notch, the star of the show was the food. My salmon encrusted with egg and parmesan cheese was perfected prepared and the accompanying rice and asparagus were just the right accompaniments. Others in our party had grilled salmon, crab cakes, and a shrimp & pasta special which were all delicious. The only downside was that even though the museum was closed, we still had to pay $4 to park.
