This is a fine, comfortable hotel, but needs someone to alert the manager that (a) it's 2007, not 1977 and (b) even upper end business travelers are irritated by price gouging for basic business services. It's comfortable, clean, convenient, and features the usual nice Marriott extras, but also has pricey and under-delivering room service, pricey internet access (hello...time for free wireless guys), and a very iffy desk staff. Also, this hotel does not do towel and sheet water conservation, which puts it behind the times. Hope they'll get with the program.

Pluses: 20th floor room had great view, spacious room, pretty quiet, close to harbor, nice fitness room. Requested a refrigerator and got one at no extra charge. Fell's point nearby with a variety of pubs/restaurants. Great burger and best onion rings at Duclaw; beer way overpriced.

minuses: Had to request that housekeeping NOT spray what they must consider to be air freshener, they finally did not on the third day. I recommend if scents are an issue for you that you make this request strongly upon checking in, and perhaps even speak directly to the housekeeper. parking very expensive if you pay BUT there are a limited number of 24 hour free on street spots just a block away on President Street, I got lucky around 9PM each day and found a spot, just pay close attention to the signs. Pool was too chilly. Restaurants on Harbor very expensive, but check out McCormick and Schmick's happy hour specials. Crime is awful in Baltimore (56 murders in first 71 days of 2007) so do not venture too far away on foot or after dark. Expect lots of panhandlers in Inner harbor area.

My wife and I recently returned after a one-night stay and were quite impressed. After having previously stayed at both the Hyatt and the Renaissance, we would probably rank this one as the best of the Inner Harbor properties.

First and foremost was the staff. They were excellent. We hardly had to wait for our bags, car, or the roomservice. Everyone was friendly with the front desk representative handing me a gift bag complete with an apple, potato chips, and a bottle of spring water at check-in. This was a nice touch and helped to set the tone for a great weekend.

Our room on the 14th floor was clean and spacious with a wonderful view of the harbor. In fact, most of the hotel rooms are designed so that you can have a nice view regardless of vantage point. The pool and fitness area on the fifth floor, while small, has a patio where you can walk out and get a great view of both the harbor and the downtown skyline. It's worth a few pictures.

The Marriott is a about a five to ten minute scenic walk to the National Aquarium and all of the restaurants including Ruth's Chris Steakhouse and McCormick & Schmick's. You can't beat the location. You cross over a pedestrian bridge and you are right there. The area is also really great for runners and bicycle enthusiasts.

We paid about $220 for the night on the Marriott site but felt it was fair considering this is a legitimate four-star hotel. We enjoyed ourselves and would definitely stay there again in the future.

I have been to this hotel on multiple occasions for business and was very excited when we "won" it through priceline, but it ended up being a disaster! Upon checking in, we noticed an overly strong smell in our room. After a few minutes, when it didn't go away, we called downstairs and requested a new room, then went off to enjoy a romantic dinner. When we returned to the hotel, we tried 3 more rooms. All smelled the same, like overpowering perfume/carpet cleaner . (A porter told us that they have been having problems due to the new non-smoking policy. Many guests are smoking in the rooms and they cover up the smell with cleaning agents.)

We ended up having to drive all of the way home at 11pm. Our first- night-away-from-our-newborn/ Valentine's Day was ruined! The hotel would not reimburse us since we bought through priceline, so it was a total waste of our hard-earned money!

Stayed here on business for a few days in January and thought the property was very nice. Great location and great views of the harbor. The roomservice crabcake sandwich was excellent! The staff was very attentive and friendly. Glad it's a smoke free property too.
