Hotel is next to a drug rehab halfway house with a Section 8 apartment complex behind it. Need I say more?
Once was a Susse Chalet hotel, part of a chain of very well-managed hotels. Not any more.

I would not say it was the worst hotel that I ever stayed at but it was definitely not the best. I agree with the one reviewer, it was not a great neigborhood, but better then inner Baltimore itself. Baltimore is a scary scary place. Make sure you have good directions when traveling around. The hotel was okay. The toilet in our room was broken the second we got there. There was a leak from the room above us so the bathroom ceiling was damaged. The tubs were slippery providing no skid resistance, which is very dangerous to children as well as adults. The light in the bathroom was minimal and the shower curtain blocked it out completely making the shower seem dark and claustrophobic. The towels were threadbare.
The pool is away from the hotel and is very small. It goes from three foot to six foot and its really not long enough to make that transition smoothly. It is however in a gated area.
The staff was courteous and efficient. I was glad though that we were only there for a one night stay. Avoid this place is possible.

I travel all over and stay in Fairfield Inn's 99% of the time. Breakfast was great! Room was clean! Staff was awesome! This hotel has by far the best and most compassionate staff I have ever encountered. Just outside of Baltimore, it was close enough for convenience yet far enough to avoid the city chaos. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
Stay far far away!
We had a room booked for $89, when I called national Marriott to confirm the rate the night before, somebody had overriden the rate to $179. National Marriott didnt even understand how the rate was so high and they changed it. This should of been a sign not to stay here.
We had just visited a local University, and arrived at the hotel. We didnt even walk in the front door, let alone the parking lot. It is an awful area, by far one of the worst areas I have ever seen. There are bums on the street and people just hanging out on the streets. There is low income housing right across the way from the hotel.
My advice; for safety, pick somewhere else, we did the Hampton Inn White Marsh and what a great place.
This hotel was a little outside of downtown Baltimore, but it was quite nice. The rooms were clean, breakfast was decent, and the staff was mostly helpful. They didn't go out of their way to help us, but they weren't bad either. It's not in what I would call the greatest area, but it is in a city, so I guess it's to be expected.
The walls were sound proof, as we didn't hear any noise during our whole stay (4 nights). The beds could've been more comfortable, but you can't have everything!
