“Great place! Great stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2013

Once again the people at the Kimpton did not disappoint! Everyone was extremely attentive !!!
We had a wonderful stay....the wine hour was wonderful! The check in and check out were flawless! Although there was a wedding in the hotel for the weekend, we still felt as though we were the only ones in the hotel and our stay was equally important. When we left the hotel, even the young men out front were eager to ensure we had proper directions and offered places for us to see!

Room Tip: We had a suite!!! Great accommodations

We were in Baltimore for two nights and were very happy with our accommodations at the Monaco. The hotel is the former headquarters of the B&O railroad and the architecture is simply beautiful. A short 4 block walk down to the Inner Harbor and shopping area connecting to Fells Point & little Italy. Excellent location and friendly staff. We had a great time at the hotel

I should start by saying that I'm a big fan of the Kimpton family of hotels in that I relate to their vision and the experience that they try to create for their guests. This was my second stay at the Baltimore Monaco and I would definitely return. The hotel itself is a beautiful building with loads of character and tasteful decorations and furnishings. The staff are helpful and efficient, starting with your arrival in front of the hotel. I was in a Mediterranean Suite, which was spacious and well-equipped. Another single room I had requested for visitors was also spacious and nicely decorated. The Monaco, while not on the Inner Harbor, is only a short walk and conveniently located within the city. As previously noted, the hotel is pet-friendly. They also have a free bike program on a first come/first served basis. While online, I had noticed that they had a "continental" breakfast special for $1 extra which I availed myself of. It was far beyond a typical continental breakfast and, while I had no other meals at the hotel itself, it gave a pretty good idea of the quality and creativity of the food that the kitchen is capable of. My only complaint about this trip involved a trip to the bar at night, where service was painfully slow. Given the hotel's attention to detail and service, I'm inclined to write it off an an isolated instance.

Room Tip: Great views from corner suites. Upgrades for nominal charges are often available.

My husband and I decided to visit Baltimore for a quick trip for our anniversary. Unfortunately, we were not impressed with the city of Baltimore, but fortunately, this hotel was a little bit of paradise in the middle of the city. The rooms are beautiful and up-to date, and the restaurant located on-site was amazing. However, at 2:30 am, the fire alarm went off, and we had to walk down 8 flights of stairs. Upon exiting the building, there was no staff around to let us know what had happened, or to calm nerves. Thirty minutes later, when we were allowed back in the building, the strobe light in our room continued to go off for approximately 30 minutes. My husband and I decided to just pack up and go home, knowing that we weren't going to be able to go back to sleep. We checked out at the front desk, and they were WAY MORE than accommodating to us. They went above and beyond to make up for the inconvenience. Overall, we most likely will not be back to Baltimore, but I'm 100% sold on Kimpton Hotels. They provide amazing customer service, and we'll be sure to book with them in the future.

We arrived into Baltimore last night and checked into our hotel. This hotel s beautiful with all current furnishings and a staff that is above five stars. We brought our dogs with us and they have the best pet policy out there. They treat your pets like part of the family ie giving them there bed, bowls, food and treats also. So for those who can't part with there pets bring them along. Parking is steep so you need to add the 38.00 on top of the room charge. It's close to everything so today I will go and explore the city while my husband is in his conference.

Room Tip: All of there rooms are great.

We were only in Baltimore for one night, the location is excellent for getting to the inner harbour and shopping mall. We had not realised the Grand Prix was on the weekend following our stay so the whole place was a mess of road blocks and diversions which did not make getting across town easy. Reception is one floor up an impressive stair case with a Tiffany Glass atrium, however, behind the reception the half closed blinds revealed a dismal outlook.

We arrived early for check in so did not really expect room to be ready. Left our bags on the assurance everything would be ready for us on our return having completed all the paperwork. We returned around four and the room still was not quite ready, a bit of chasing up with housekeeping and we were shown to a corner room which we had requested and paid for the upgrade from original room. The AC was running like a jet engine while we showered and changed to go out, even switching it off did not stop the noise. We complained when we went down to the drinks reception, assuming this was just a minor hitch that could be easily sorted. We thought we would just check on the room before we went to dinner only to find two engineers stomping around and half the suspended ceiling down. We were informed there was more than a minor issue and immediately packed up our bags and were upgraded to an enormous suite on the same floor in the opposite corner. Anthony who was in charge of the maintenance at the hotel was charming and ensured everything else was comfortable for our stay and even gave us a 20% discount to use in the B&O Brasserie.

As I said the suite was huge, but somehow the room was not really comfortable. The room was quite dark and needed the lights on at anytime. There were the usual Kimpton touches of the bathrobes, beds are comfortable etc but somehow this hotel just seemed to miss the spot for me.

This might be my favorite hotel I've ever stayed at in the US. For the price, the service and quality was outstanding. I got the aquarium package which included two tickets to the National Aquarium and a goldfish in the room, which was a really cute and quirky touch.

The room was gorgeous - amazingly comfortable king sized bed, butter soft sheets, gorgeous decor, and those fun robes we enjoyed lounging around in. The free wifi for hotel members was a nice touch too. Seriously, that bed. We had so much trouble getting out of it we almost didn't make it to the aquarium.

The location is great and the staff really helpful and friendly. We hit the complimentary wine hour both afternoons and hung out in the lounge area.

My only small complaint was that the continental breakfast we bought with the room was a little stingy - just a muffin or oatmeal and scone, coffee, fruit and juice, I would have preferred a buffet or the option to substitute for other menu items. And the complimentary coffee in the lobby was really bad. Small stuff though, overall. It really was a lovely stay and I can't wait to go back.
