“Much more interesting than expected”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2012

I brought one of my kids here as a time filler, and then it quickly became one of the most interesting activities of the day. I have returned several times since and each time is more facinating than the last. Everyone should go when visiting Baltimore and the Inner harbor area.

“inspired visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2012

Beautiful layout, a full environment of truly inspirational artwork, by some very interesting artists. Very inviting areas outdoors and the secondary building which has a wonderful hands on exhibit. A must go if visiting the Baltimore area.

“American Visionary Art Museum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2012

The American Visionary Art Museum is definitely an unusual museum that you most likely will not find any place other than Baltimore. The exhibits are unusual as well as interesting and amazing. Looking at the exhibits will make you wonder how someone could have imagined such a design and then actually created it. It's one of those places where you want to go again and again just so you can enjoy the fantasy of the art as well as expand your own imagination.

“Just kind of weird. Art? Really? I could probably do a better job myself..”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2012

Not worth paying money to see. Very disappointed in the whole thing. They call that "art?" I don't know what else I can say about it to reach 100 words except save your money.

“Weird and wonderful”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2012

Not everything on exhibit at AVAM will strike you as great art, but it's all visually interesting, and the stories of the artists who produced the work are often the most interesting elements of your visit. If you're spending a day at the Inner Harbor, it's much more fun than the now-generic shopping/dining halls at Harborplace, so budget a little time to walk along the southern rim of the waterfront and take in some very non-traditional art.
