My husband and I went for a quick weekend getaway to Baltimore to visit the aquarium. I booked this hotel because it was within walking distance from where we wanted to go and appeared to have decent reviews. Truth be told, I should have dug deeper into the reviews. The main reason we booked this hotel was because it is pet friendly and we wanted to bring our two small dogs. When I called the hotel to book my reservation, I asked the girl what the pet fee was for me to bring my two dogs and she said $50. I thought that was fair, and booked my stay. We arrived at the hotel at 2pm, after a very long drive and went to the front desk to check in and were told that was not possible until 4pm. So here we are, luggage, dogs, and exhausted from a drive, and it's impossible to get an early check in. This is the first time I have ever experienced this. Every hotel I have stayed in (even Hiltons) have allowed us an earlier check in if needed. Regardless, we remained calm and took a seat in the lobby. Now normally, this would be fine, but this lobby was very full (probably from other guests who also could not check in) and so we wound up having to sit pretty far away from the front desk, and we were not once, but twice approached by homeless men asking to use our phones. Eventually, at 4pm we were able to check in... but then they tried to charge me $50 PER DOG. I explained to the gentleman that not 1, not 2, but 3 other employees at the hotel had verified it was a $50 charge for 2 dogs under 75lbs. He was kind enough to only charge me what they had promised, however I would recommend anyone traveling with pets be sure to verify this information with them several times. The room we stayed in was alright, nothing spectacular, and no wow factor. We were told we had a "Harbor View" room, but we couldn't see anything past the buildings surrounding us. We basically had a view of the building next doors roof. Aside from that, we had a room service tray that sat outside our door the ENTIRE time we were there. And it was NOT our tray. When we got to the hotel we thought maybe housekeeping hadn't picked it up yet, but it sat there until we checked out the following day. All night, old food, just sitting outside our door. I'd recommend they work on a better system to collect dishes in the hotel. --After all of that, the day we checked out of the hotel there was another homeless gentleman sleeping in the lobby. I think I can safely say that when we visit Baltimore again, we'll find another hotel to stay in. And lastly, that $50 charge for the dogs.... apparently it's $53 dollars, and apparently they charge you twice in order to "verify payment" -- all I know is the other charge better come off my credit card. The customer service at this hotel is ridiculous. I absolutely would NOT recommend staying here. I know we won't return.
