“Great Museum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2012

With two train buffs in the family, we have visited lots of museums, and this was one of the best. The Roundhouse is really cool and the exhibits are pretty impressive. Lots of trains and train cars that you can actually go on. The staff are very knowledgeable and have some great stories. My kids are much older but it was nice to see that had several hands-on exhibits for younger visitors. Allow at least 2 hours to really see everything.

“Good train stuff”

Good place to see, touch, and learn about trains throughout history. Easy to get to in downtown Baltimore. Usually lots of parking is available.

“Fun for young and old alike”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2012

We took our chldren and my in-laws here in August. The only downside is the price and the heat. The roundhouse where all the trains are displayed and where the kids play area is is not air-conditioned. But the roundhouse is really amazing to see, and they have an impression selection of trains. There is a video in the mail train by the kids area that is fun to watch. In the summer, there is also a kids carnival type area with a merry go round and a motorized train they can ride on a track. The kids area in the roundhouse has rocking chairs so you can sit while the kids are playing with legos and train sets. It's definitely an enjoyable hour or so. It is too far from downtown to walk, and the neighborhood is not the best (but parking is safe). I believe they allow you to bring food in, and you can eat it in the display/kids area outside. The train ride was just okay, worth it if you have a little one that is interested, but not really anything impressive for adults.
