“Wonderful afternoon! Go at least once”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2012

Like many reviewers I really liked the movie as well. It was very touching when it played the Star Spangled Banner at the end and the screen lifted the reveal the flag. One tip, though, if you go- they are playing our national anthem, so stand up, or you look like schmucks. We went there with relatives who are in the military and they were down right offended at people who didn't stand. The fort was really neat. It was fun to climb down into the weapons storage, or the bunkers, go in the jail cells. The fact that they let you get so hands on is really a boon to people with kids. Our kids loved the huge cannons! They have signs to stay off the earthworks but it is really really hard to keep kids down. I can see why a lot of people go running around here. It's lovely! Beautiful views of the Bay! And we were pleased that they gave tribute to Armistead who actually defended the fort instead of focusing solely on Key who was watching from a distance, you know? And fun that they're flying the 15 star flag that they flew at the time! We spent a wonderful afternoon here! We're very glad we went.

There was nothing really to dislike. They could have used more seating in the area of the movie.

“The Place Where America Grew Up”

Fort McHenry is the site where the United States showed the world that it could take its place among nations by withstanding a British bombardment and giving birth to our National Anthem

“New visitor center; Star Spangled Banner story”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2012

War of 1812 is not well known in America, but here was a major event in that war. The 200th anniversary starts this year. Baltimore will be center of activity through September of 2014 to mark the anniversary of the 1814 Battle of Baltimore.

“We miss our daily visits!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2012

We used to live in Locust Point and would walk our dogs down to Fort McHenry almost every day, weather permitting. There is a great walk around the perimeter that is surrounded by water. It's a beautiful view of downtown Baltimore, and a great walk when the weather is permitting. The inside of the Fort is fantastic for the history buff.
