“Make it your first stop.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2013

This is a must see. It's free, it's huge, and it contains a wide variety of collections. You will need more time than you think to see it all, and will enjoy it even if you're not an art connoisseur. We're so happy we came across this while in the area!

“Among the best”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2013

This is a hidden gem in Baltimore. The artwork is quite impressive, and the mansion is fabulous. And entrance is free! We especially liked the way the "salon" was exhibited. Just a delight.

“A expansive treat for art, history lovers”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2013 via mobile

I took a nice little tour around the world and through history at the Walters. The museum has such a wide-ranging collection of art and artifacts that it's easy to skip the stuff that you're not interested in and find something that you will like.
The highlights for me were some of the 18th and 19th century paintings on the top floor and the mummified cat in the ancient Egypt section. My high school teacher friend pointed out that it looked like a loaf of bread.

“Something for Everyone and it's FREE!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2013

The Walters is not the normal art museum; while it has plenty of great fine art, its collection is truly eclectic and contains mummies and other items from Egypt as well as antiquities from Rome, Greece, the Near East, Medieval weapons and suits of armor, natural history, Faberge Eggs and other jewels and so much more. The collection was put together by the Walters whose fortune was made with the B&O Railroad and was given to the City of Baltimore. Truly a treasure in which everyone can find something of interest and with free admission, there is no reason not to visit.

“What a Phenomenal Treasure!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2013

Had never visited this unique museum and could have stayed all day and come back the next day and still not have been able to take it all in. I'm sure there are many other reviewers who have given rave and specific reviews, but suffice it to say make sure you leave enough time (particularly for the Egyptian and Asian collections)!!!
