The Walters is by far the better of Baltimore's two major art museums. The collection spans thousands of years and dozens of cultures, through the 19th century, with remarkable pieces that would make many a larger institution jealous. However, it doesn't have a particularly strong Impressionist collection, and doesn't have any Modern or Contemporary collections. No restaurant either, alas, just a small and unimpressive cafe. But the collection is fantastic and well worth a detour, and entry is free.
