“World-class museum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2013

The Walters is by far the better of Baltimore's two major art museums. The collection spans thousands of years and dozens of cultures, through the 19th century, with remarkable pieces that would make many a larger institution jealous. However, it doesn't have a particularly strong Impressionist collection, and doesn't have any Modern or Contemporary collections. No restaurant either, alas, just a small and unimpressive cafe. But the collection is fantastic and well worth a detour, and entry is free.

“FREE Walters Art Museum is worth a visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

Today I went to the Walters with a friend to see the permanent collection. Often I go to see a talk or a special exhibit but today we decided that visiting the permanent collection which is well worth a look. The Docents were very helpful and of course the art objects and paintings were spectacular. I was pleased to see several school trips also coming through, they were very quiet and well behaved and their teachers seemed to be directing their attention to special items of interest.

“Great museum, with free admission!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

It may not have the fun factor like the National Aquarium, but this art museum offers a great collection, all nicely laid out. The volunteer staff are extremely helpful and knowledgeable as well. Free admission, and free lockers helped make this a great time on a cold afternoon.

This is a beautiful art museum in a convenient location with free admission. What could be better? There is a wide variety of featured collections, including an impressive hall of antique weapons.
