This is a great place for lunch. Don't go here to eat darn cheese. Just enjoy "scenic local color" and walk away happy and with not too much chance of food sick. Is so good. Please come and support our favorite local rat-hole.

When I was a child, my father worked at the Hecht-May Company and we he took me to work with him, we would park in the Lexington Street parking garage and always pass thrut he market. It was in the late 50's and the market was a clean, well kept, bustling market with different bakeries, EssKay meat vendors, butchers, etc.
I went there a few years ago and found a dimly lit, dirty, shoddy, rat-hole. What a shame.
As a former Employee of the Lexington Market Police I would Highly suggest that any person traveling around the city to see the many sight just keep walking when it comes to the market. Due to the market having a large number of drug clinics within close proximity, the market has become a daytime haven for drug users, dealers and just your everyday homeless person. With improper funding and bad management the Lexington Market Police is unable to effectively patrol and insure safety to the market patrons. So unless you travel with a firearm or know how to handle yourself in the nations second most dangrous city i would suggest you just keep walking.
My family and I recently visited Baltimore. While visiting the inner harbor area we asked about places to eat and we were told to visit the Lexington Market, That they were famous for their seafood and especially Fradley's for the Crabcakes. We went to Fradleys seafood in the market and were treated very rudely by the people behind the counter, and got the impression that we were not welcome. I would not recommend that anyone with a family visit there. Hopefully the owners of this establishment will look into this behavior ,and the attitudes of the workers will change for the better.
You must visit, lexington market, and go to Fraidleys Best crab cakes in the world, tip the guy shucking oysters and quality goes up 3 fold
