“Oso Negro is Oso OK”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2013

Big breakfasts of eggs, pancakes, bacon, sausage, biscuits, coffee . . . not a complaint to be had from our whole group. Prices are certainly reasonable and the fresh air along with a little hiking to the top of the adjacent hill, ensured that appetites were up. Was this a contributing factor to our gustatory appreciation of the morning's cuisine? M-a-ybe!? We ate our noon (if any after those big breakfasts) and evening meals elsewhere so no comment about other meals.
We were definitely grateful to have such an overall satisfying restaurant on site though to boost energy levels for full days of activity while there. Service was as good as the wait folks were genuine and cordial . . . and they were . . . very!!.

“Still slow”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2013

The dinner menu has been changed, fewer items and a bit higher prices. Service is still slow, but I don't think it is the servers at fault. An hour and a quarter for cheesburger and fries? We had the chicken fried steak the next night and it was fine, but it was served with a roasted potato and brussel sprouts. Even President Bush didn't like brussel sprouts. They change the type of potato served daily, we were told.

“nothing special for lunch”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

Ate lunch at the restaurant and they had a few choices caffeteria style that were not too exciting. We had the pasta which was adequate. The evening menu looked much more interesting but did not try it.

“Needs a Make-over :(”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2013

We visit Davis Mountain State Park at least once a year. We look forward to going up to Black Bear Lodge to eat. This trip, the food and service was terrible. The restaurant is closing for a few months this year for renovation.. Hopefully this will help. A new manager was hired and the menus were improved but many items were either taken off the menu or were on the menu and not available. The waitstaff was having to take orders and also having to cook. We did get there the day after Christmas and they served 350 people at a buffet the day before so I give them that but they still didnt have the salad and soup bar back up and running after a week. It took over an hour to get a breakfast taco. The food was cold and tasteless. Sorry guys... We are disappointed. I will stay in my RV and cook :(
