“Fun historic park to take a step back 130 years”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2012

Stopped in for a quick walk and to take a couple photos but ended up staying about 2 hours. Walked around the entire place and had a wonderful time enjoying the history and beautiful scenery. The park attendant led us to a small theater room where we could watch an informative video about the founding of Fort Davis and the soldiers who were stationed there (hosted by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar).

The place is pristine and quiet, great for curious folks or history buffs, but bear in mind that there are several areas that are off limits due to restorations in progress.

“Historic and an interesting film”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2012

There is more buildings here than most old wild west forts. They have rebuilt some buildings and others are original. There is also a nice overlook hike with some great views.

“Great Historical Site”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2011

Stop here while in the Fort Davis Area. You won't be disappointed. If you have a National Park Pass ($10 lifetime for Seniors) you won't even have to pay to walk through the park.

“Loved this place!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 10, 2011

We spent the day here and really enjoyed visiting the entire compound, listening to the various bugle calls, and appreciated this attraction allowing us to walk our dog on a leash (except in buildings). Some of the signage and/or maps could be clearer, but overall, it is nicely done with lots of historic value. Highly recommend. A side note: we purchase a national park pass every year for $80 and it has saved us hundreds. When my hubby turns 62, he can buy a lifetime pass for $10. The passes are good for the card holder and everyone else in his/her vehicle.
