“not great”

Rose River Inn

Comments: I booked a room at the Rose River Inn Bed and Breakfast, reservation # 046624306. Your site has this as a 3 start with no reader comments. I found this B&B to be no more than a one star and was grossly overpriced for the following reasons:

1. Breakfast could only be served at 9AM. When asked about an earlier service as we did not want to spend the morning there, the inn keeper said she did not like to get up early and could only relunctently provide a minimal service.

2. The river view, which was advertised as being a major feature of this B&B, is very minimal and limited to only a very few areas of the house.

3. The entire house slants severely front to back and is not comfortable to sit in.

This guest booked through a company that has their own rating system, which you can view by going to that company's website. There are 3 reader comments as of June, this guest stayed 7/16. I also have no control over the additional fees that this company charges. As stated on our website, breakfast is at 9 a.m. If you request an early time, then you will be offered fresh fruit, bagels, cereal, coffee, tea and oj. Also on our website it clearly describes each room and if there is a view of the river. For the amenities we offer we feel we are more then fair on our room rates. If you would book directly with us you would understand this. If you read the reviews that other guests have written on this website, they were all pleased with their stay here. I am sorry that this guest felt that they had such a bad experience here.

We stayed at the B&B for only one night, but it was a great night. We were in the Othello room, which was of a very nice and an extremely comfortable bed. Also included was a big bathtub, robes, a tv and DVD (with an extensive movie collection). Our host and hostess were very nice and knowledgable on the area. Astoria is a neat little town just to walk around in. Breakfast was good, but served at 9am. That's tough if you want to get an early start on your way to Portland, but very good if you're a fisherperson who wants to go out on THE Columbia River to get some early bites.

We had a wonderful stay at the Rose River Inn, wonderful hosts and very nice accomodations. I highly recommend going to Fort George's which is just a block away, a great pub with great beer! Astoria is a very charming stop, I highly recommend it!

My new bride and I came up here for our honeymoon and stayed for 5 nights. Each morning we had breakfast with different people who had come in the earlier evening. Breakfast conversations were wonderful as David and Pam treated us more like friends than as guests and acted as hosts more than innkeepers.

The room (Rose Room) was a wonderful room with a lot of space, though very little storage for those that like to unpack their entire suitcase when they arrive on destination. Both my wife and I were a bit tall for the bathtub (but we're both used to that by now) but aside from that, the house is amazing clean for a place with so much history and the views are fantastic.

What a find!

We stayed in the beautiful Rose Room. It had a huge fireplace, a four-poster bed and an en-suite bathroom with a clawfoot bathtub. The whole B&B was spotlessly clean and very comfortable.

Breakfast was excellent. We started with fresh fruit salad, then souffle, then the most amazing pumpkin roulade.

We were made to feel very welcome by our very friendly hosts Pam and David - they are very good at what they do. We'd highly recommend this place to everyone. It's that good that if we ever travel to Oregon again (which is very likely), we'd make a special detour to go back to this place!
