My husband and I stayed at Clementine's when we visited the OR coast. Astoria is a cute little town with several historical attractions. The inn itself was lovely (in particular the rooms!) and located close to restaurants and attractions--we were able to walk everywhere; the breakfast made the stay completely worthwhile. The hostess is quite helpful regarding local plans and dining. I recommend Clementine's to anyone who seeks a lovely B&B atmosphere!

Astoria does not have many reasonably priced hotels with good tripadvisor reviews so we chose a B&B instead. Clementine's sounded wonderful, particularly based on the website.
We booked the Garden room to avoid carrying our bags up too many stairs, little did we anticipate the steep stairs to reach the house from the street! See the picture. The room was tiny, no room for suicases and certainly not to use our laptop. WIFI was available in the great room and worked reasonably well, if you don't mind paying bills, etc... with other people around!
The owner was not present the evening when we checked in but her substitute greeted us a bit off-handily (we were not sure who she was), showed us where our room was, and offered us cookies and two buck Chuck wine, which we were glad to have.
When it was time to go out to dinner we asked for suggestions and the owner's substitute was not much help so we relied on the AAA book.
The owner returned from hiking Mt Rainier that evening and we discovered that had she been there earlier, we would have had the lowdown on all the best places to eat. Too bad! We also would have been told that the faucets in our bathroom were reversed and there really was adequate hot water!
Breakfast was around a big long rectangular table and delicious.
We had expected Astoria to be a pretty seaside town, it is really quite drab with very little to do. Not really worth a layover there, and why the hotels are so expensive I have no idea.
Our stay in this hotel was part of a 53 day US tour that took us over 10,000 miles, 36 different hotels, and a different restaurant every evening. We were on a budget so did not stay in luxury hotels or generally eat in expensive restaurants. This review is relative to what we found on average. We booked all hotels in advance over the internet, when available, and checked them all against reviews on TripAdvisor.com which we found very helpful.

“Pleasant Stay”

Clementine's Bed & Breakfast

We stayed at Clementine's for a night when travelling through Astoria last month. Our room was very comfortable (though a bit small if you have lots of luggage) with a pleasant view of the front garden. We enjoyed meeting the other guests over wine in the evening and chatting with them over a delicious breakfast the next morning. It is a good location within walking distance of many restaurants.

“Great View of Astoria with Yummy Breakfast”

Clementine's Bed & Breakfast

This was the best breakfast on the Oregon coast. We really felt pampered by the hostess of this B&B. In the morning we walked a short way to the Flavel House Museum, the restored Victorian home of one of Astoria's most famous citizens. We stayed in the room without an adjoining bath but we had a private bath in the hall. This room had the best view in the whole house with a balcony overlooking the bay area. The setting was very romantic. We learned you could also come for a special cooking class weekend that sounded fun. You could certainly learn some great cooking tips because the food was excellent.

There are some wonderful examples of Victorian period architecture in Astoria.

If you are visiting Oregon you should spend at least one night in Astoria. We climbed the Astoria column at sunset for a great view.

“Cozy and Very Accommodating!”

Clementine's Bed & Breakfast

My husband and I stayed at Clementine's recently on our way to Vancouver, B.C. We have stayed in many B and B's over the years, and the quality and service has run the gamut. We were very pleased with Clementine's, and highly recommend a stay at Judith's abode. She was a wonderful and charming woman, and we definitely felt that our happiness was a top priority. The food was outstanding; we had the best fritattas ever here! We stayed 2 nights in a quaint room on the first floor that had a very comfortable cozy bed. We learned a lot about Astoria and its offerings from Judith, and she even made some excellent recommendations for our trip up north (Judith was right, Edmonds is a great town to stop in on the way to Canada). The daily afternoon snack equipped with wines, cheese and crackers, fruit, and cookies was a thoughtful touch, and Judith was also quick to point out a large assortment of menus to the town's restaurants at our disposal. Thank you Judith, for a wonderful time!!!
