“Wonderful Food, Friendly Staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2012 via mobile

While we were standing on a street corner, floundering around wondering where to eat, a nearby bank employee stuck her head out the door and asked if she could help us find anything. We asked about a place for lunch, and she recommended the nearby Urban Cafe. Great recommendation. Immediately seated by friendly staff. Food was great!! Tried the shrimp melt on toasted fresh-baked croissant and it was delicious. Huge salad. Interestingly different but good clam chowder. Wonderful coconut cream pie. Discovered that our waiter was indeed the owner! Any continued success will no doubt be because of her hard work and devotion to good food and great attitude!

“Better than expected lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2012

Our initial impressions of Astoria was that it was a rather gritty town; we had rather low expectations of the food we would have there. However, our impressions began to improve starting with lunch at this restaurant. The staff was pleasant, and the menu was interesting. My 7yr old did not really like her pizza, but she is a bit of a pizza snob. The decor was interesting. We left the place in a better mood than when we arrived and went on to thoroughly enjoy ourselves in Astoria.

Kitschy decor but great food! We always hit this place for lunch once while in town. Great sandwiches and soups.

“Good food and value for the price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2012

We had three different dishes and all were very tasty. Easy recommendation if you don't require great service. Service was just OK. Very friendly people, but not very attentive.

You'll need to ask for you water glass/diet coke glass to be re-filled. 10% tip is the max here for this level/non-level of service.

“Consistently Excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2012

We always visit The Urban when taking a coast trip. The Turkey Panini is a great choice and the salads are out of this world. Best clam chowder we've tasted in this area. The staff's inventory of smiles is never in short supply either.
