“Amazing!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2012

We stayed 2 nights at the Cannery Pier hotel and can’t wait to return! From the moment we checked in we were treated wonderfully; the staff was friendly, accommodating and very helpful.

Let me start by saying the view is truly amazing! The rooms are beautiful and very comfortable. The bathtub with the view of the water is a nice touch. The hotel is close to a fabulous restaurant and close to the waterfront path, which a good place to ride a bike or to take a walk. If you want to venture into town for dinner the hotel will provide you a ride in their vintage cars, again another nice touch. Bikes are available to guests at no charge and are a great way to get around Astoria. Our favorite thing about the Cannery Pier is that it is pet friendly. You can’t find many hotels of this caliber that allow pets. While pets are not allowed in the lobby (you have to use a special side door) the hotel goes out of its way to provide dog beds, toys and a basket full of treats for your furry friends.

All and all this is a beautiful, romantic hotel and we will definitely return.

This hotel was the best surprise! It is beautiful! A glass of wine when we checked in! We rode their bikes along the ocean after breakfast. The view from our room was stunning! We will definitely stay here again when we visit the coast of Washington.

If you are planning a visit to Portland, be sure to allow a couple extra days to visit Astoria and stay at the Cannery Pier Hotel. It will be a very memorable experience for you. The hotel is really out on a pier with simply incredible views of a four and a half mile bridge from OR to WA. I believe each room has a view of the bridge from their balcony. And it's so awesome to be overlooking the Columbia River, and watch the many ships that pass by. My husband added an ap to his phone so we could look up each ship, know what they were carrying, and where they were going. It's quite interesting. The hotel itself is wonderful with lovely rooms, very comfy beds, fireplaces, and large bathrooms with a nice walk in shower. We enjoyed appetizers and wine on the patio before heading to a delicious dinner at T Paul's. This is our second visit and we will certainly be back. Astoria is a great little town!!

We stayed at the Cannery Pier Hotel for only one night (could not get second night since they were booked solid) but really wish we could have enjoyed it longer. Room was very clean and well appointed with a beautiful bathroom and a fireplace. Relaxed in the window seat watching the ship traffic cruise by, doesn't get much better! Had to get up to enjoy the wine and appetizer offering by the hotel staff. Really wanted to ride in the Packard but we had too many people for it to be feasible. Not the least expensive place but well worth it.

This hotel is located right on the Columbia River next to the spectacular bridge into Washington. Nice balcony from which to view the river and activities. it has a boutique hotel feel with wine and cheese in the afternoons and a serviceable breakfast in the morning. Good, comfortable bed with nice linens. A great touch is that a classic car will take you to dinner in the evening and pick you up as a complimentary service (we tipped the driver). Loved the creative vision of the architect owner as this was originally a cannery!

Room Tip: It seemed that all the rooms were very good. We liked the upper floor for a more expansive view. T...

From the fantastic views in each room with its own private balcony and binoculars to view the ships passing to the bikes and retro cars for your use, this beautiful hotel is unique from top to bottom. Built out on the pier right next to the Columbia River channel, the ships pass just yards from the hotel rooms. The hotel also boasts a top-notch staff. In our room we found a personal note written to us. We arrived late, long after happy hour, but the front desk person still offered and got us glasses of wine to enjoy in our rooms. At every turn, we were offered help rather than having to ask for it. Instead of being just customers, we were guests! The only problem is that if you come to see Astoria, you might not want to ever leave the hotel.

Room Tip: There isn't a bad room. All the rooms overlook the Columbia River channel and have a private bal...

I love this place. The view is spectacular with a front row view of the Columbia River and the large bulk hauler ships coming and going. All of the rooms have a balcony so you can step outside to enhance your view.

The rooms are modern and are a decent size. All of the rooms have a gas fireplace that is your only heat. The bathrooms have a shower and a claw foot tub with there is a window into the main room so you can see the view while showering.

Each evening they have a wine and cheese reception and they also offer a continental breakfast.
One other feature we did not take advantage of is the vintage cars they use to chauffer you to dinner.

We will definitely be returning.
