“Relaxing Waterfront Room.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

The rooms are better then the exterior might lead you to believe. When we first glimpsed the building we were a little apprehensive. From the street side, it looks like a large, rather dull 60's motel. The exterior looked recently painted, the color is a nondescript medium brown. The building is clean and well maintained. Our two double bed room was a comfortable size with a balcony that overlooks a private marina with the Colombia River just beyond. The balcony affords an excellent view of the steel highway bridge just to the east and the ship traffic on the Columbia River. Our room was painted an off white with one pastel blue wall. The same blue continued into the bathroom. The bathroom fixtures continued this sixties ambiance. Everything in the room was well maintained. The room was very quiet and the waterside views relaxing. The breakfast selections of cereals, make it your self waffles, and fruit are adequate. The people at the reception desk were very courteous and helpful. The hotel is located at the west end of the riverfront walk which is an excellent way to get into down town on foot, while looking at the Columbia River along the way. We did not select this hotel specifically for a sixties ambiance, but we would stay here again for the relaxing water views, reasonable price and location.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the second floor for the best river views.

Clean, comfortable rooms. Nice bathroom facilities. Most friendly staff. Wonderful morning breakfast and a fabulous view of the marina. EVERY room opens onto the marina - we watched a harbor seal literally out the back window playing - and the boats are lovely. Beyond the seawall, you can see the large carrier barges and boats travel up and down the river and marvel at how they can possible fit under the bridge. Right on the trolley line, easy access to all of Astoria and close to Warrington too. With passes that were included, we visited the Flavel home - amazing!, the film museum and the heritage museum - which had one of the finest arrowhead collections I think I ever seen. The town is great and this is a great place to go see it all from.

Room Tip: All room are away from road noise...

Enjoyed a great one night stay in Astoria. The room was very comfortable and clean. The staff was friendly and efficient. They serve a great waffle for breakfast although other food options were limited. Our stay included 2 free passes to 3 museums: the Flavel House, Heritage and the Oregon Film.

stayed at this Inn Oct. 23-24, 2012. Previous reviews re: friendly helpful staff, beautiful marina view, new king size bed, good breakfast (cinnamon waffles with marianberry syrup)..clean food area......all true. Bathroom had all new fixtures; especially enjoyed very large shower head that was adjustable for spray; I opted for the large, gentle, "fuzzy" spray type. Room was clean. Staff (especially Seth) provided me with map of area, and restaurant information and recommendations. Included pass for free admission to historic museums; the Flavel House Museum and Carriage House were wonderful.
Ate lunch at Bowpicker "boat restaurant" near Maritime Museum (Seth did not recommend this); I did not care for the fish. "Tis true that there does not seem to be any insulation between rooms, but was not very noisy from other guests during the weekdays that I stayed.

Room Tip: book room on 2nd floor to minimize sounds from other rooms.

Stayed here for two nights Aug 25, 26, 2012 during the king salmon run. LOVED this place for several reasons: It is on the riverfront, the marina is directly below the hotel, which is PERFECT if you are fishing, it does not get any easier than this! Also, the rooms were spacious and clean, beds were comfy, very quit at night. There is an early basic breakfast provided for free in the lobby, great for an early day of fishing. Staff was friendly and competent. The rate was very reasonable too! If you're fishing in Astoria, THIS is the place to stay.

My husband and I traveled with 2 teenage boys. We had a family suite 2 adjoining rooms. They could do their game playing (the game system was there with games and movies in the lobby). The view is great. I would recommend this hotel to anyone especially if you have kids with you.

Room Tip: every room has a water view. The place is well off the highway.

Totally excellent experience. View of Marina and Astoria's looong bridge over the Columbia. Comfortable bed. On-site owner. This is the old Astoria Red Lion in process of revival to be a locally owned and operated quality hotel.

Room Tip: All rooms overlook the Marina as far as I could see.
