“Beautiful...but scary”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013

Definitely worth a trip but be prepared for a spiral steel staircase that feels a little claustrophobiac with people going up and down.

“Well Worth the Drive Up the Hill”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

The Astoria Column, perched on a hilltop overlooking the coastal town of Astoria, Oregon, the mouth of the Columbia River, and the mighty Northern Pacific is well worth the stop on any Oregon Coastal day trip. From the top, it offers incredible views on clear days. Buy a balsa wood airplane in the gift shop and fly it off the top of the column to see how far it goes. After the kids run up and down a couple of times, they're guaranteed to not only have fun, but also sleep incredibly well!

“Worth stopping for”

Beautiful location above Astoria. If you're up to climbing the column you will have a 360 view of Astoria and surroundings.

“Fantastic 360 degree view”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

We were in Astoria on a rare sunny beautiful day in March. We climbed the 164 steps to the top of the column and were rewarded with stunning views of the area. The stairs are in a spiral staircase and a little crowded. It cost us $1 to park -- and that parking pass is good for a year! You can also buy wooden airplanes in the gift shop and throw them off the top of the column. It was fun to watch them swirl around and around. The person in the gift shop was really nice. It's a fun quick attraction to see.

“Great Views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2013

If you are in the area you must go to the Column for a 360 degree view of Astoria, the river, ocean, etc., from atop the Column. The views here are just spectacular and as a bonus there are a lot of wild deer in the area just grazing away. We bought a soda and just sat and enjoyed the view all afternoon. Better therapy than any anxiety pill.
