I booked a stay through choice hotels privilege program using my bonus points for a 3 night stay with my husband and 2 girls ages 3 & 6yrs. Let me first say that I am a frequent traveler for business and stay exclusively with the choice hotel chain. I have stayed at multiple Comfort Suites across the country.
This stay started off bad and just went to horrible!
We arrived after a 6 hour drive to find out that they had given our river view room away. Then, it took 20 minutes to get a room, while the less than courteous desk clerk radioed housekeeping repetitively. We entered our room and I was immediately shocked by the dowdy, unclean, old appearance of the furniture and decor. As my husband and I were setting down our suitcases, my 3 year old picks up something off of the floor and puts it in her mouth!!! I grabbed her and had her spit it out, and it was an M&M! It could just as easily been a prescription pill! I called the desk, told them of the incident and that I wanted another room. They refused to give us another room but offered to have housekeeping clean the room again. (I wasn't very confident in their abilities the first time around but agreed.) We left and went to dinner; I called the Choice Hotel 1-800 number and asked if they could do anything to help the situation. They apologized (the first and only apology I heard!) and stated that all of the hotels are independently operated but they would call and speak with the manager. We went back to the room and it looked as though they had vacuumed it. We were not contacted by the manager until the last day we were there, when he called and offered us a river view room for our last night there. I declined. I figured at least I knew that there wasn't anything else my child could put in here mouth in our current room. When we checked out, I filled out the questionnaire survey and gave it to the desk clerk. I told her we would NOT be back. Two months later, I received a letter from the hotel manager, with a general blow-off apology stating that they usually get rave reviews and couldn't understand why I was not happy with my stay. Absolute nightmare! Do yourself a favor and find another hotel in the area, this one is BAD!!!
