Since I live 3 miles from the park, maybe I'm biased. But I have loved it since we moved here 20 years ago. I take friends, relatives, and myself when I just want a walk in the quiet. I have brought Flat Stanley here several times. This is real Florida, not a tourist attraction. For the history fans, this is a great exhibit on European impact in the New World and a demonstration of the life style of the Timucuan, the Native Americans who lived here. For the natural people, the short nature trail is a wonderful example of several types of Florida flora and fauna. For the artist, the scenery is beautiful since you have the oaks, the palms, and the St. John's River. We have seen dolphins playing with the ships that use the river. The walk is not hard since Florida is very flat. The park itself is free. I do recommend bug spray and sunscreen. This is Florida after all. There is a picnic area.
