The Cummer Museum and Gardens are located on the west of St. Johns's River, in the areas historical district.
The Museum has several different exhibits, ranging from a showcase of classic cars, to sculptures, paintings, portraits, and furniture featuring an array of styles and artists.
The Museum has a children's section, that is very hands-on and fun. It is interactive and set up to encourage children to enjoy art via a multitude of mediums.
The gardens are exquisite. Please note, they are also very hot, so bring a bottle of water with you! The gardens are uncrowded and offer the most peaceful (almost panoramic) view of the St. John's River.
I highly recommend visiting the Museum exhibit that details the history and evolution of the Museum and Gardens.
The Museum offers a snack bar that serves beverages (water, soda, etc.) and some light food offerings.
There is a gift-shop that has many nice items, most of which are on the expensive end.
The entry fee includes access to both the Museum and Gardens, and is reasonably priced (approximately $10 per adult.)
In order to enjoy everything, I would recommend planning on spending at least 3-4 hours.
There is free parking across from the Museum, which is not a heavily trafficked area.
