“We "left the lights on" literally...”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2008

Upon planning our trip to Florida I reviewed the various places to stay on different websites. This particular hotel was complimented for the price, the location to the airport, and for the breakfast. I have to admit all of that was true. The price was great, less than $60 a night. The location was less than a mile to JAX, and the breakfast was hot, had a good variety, and fresh. The downside was the conditions of the motel. I am not a particular picky person when it comes to accomodations. I want a good value, to feel safe, and to feel like I am staying in a clean environment. We were a little concerned when we pulled in (after driving 11 hours from Virginia) about the people hanging out in the parking lot and common areas. The motel looks like one where a good amount of people live at the motel on a regular basis. Groups out by the pool all seemed to know each other and it kind of felt like it was "their" pool, not the motels. Needless to say we went to our room and didn't hang out outside. The barbed wire that surrounds part of the parking lot was a question in our minds too. However the lobby area was clean and the girls at the front desk were nice. It all went downhill when we got to our room (which was on the backside of the motel) and turned the lights on and a roach scurried away from the nightstand between the two beds. At that point we did check the rest of the room and the bathroom and didn't see any other bugs - we thought, we noticed what looked like little black pieces of dirt on the rug near the bathroom but all in all no other crawling things. We were exhausted and didn't feel like at 10 p.m. at night checking back out and finding a new place to stay in an area we were not familar with, and we needed to stay near the airport that particular night. So we slept with the lights on the entire night to hopefully deter any more bugs from coming out from where ever they were. The next morning we realized that the little "black pieces of dirt" were actually moving. Turns out they were these really tiny little rolly poly bugs and they were crawling around between the bedroom and bathroom. As soon as we could we packed up and put our stuff back in the car and checked out. I will say we did stop in the lobby and had breakfast before leaving and it was very nice, hot waffles, cereals and pastries. I have to say though I won't be staying at this Travelodge ever again if I am back in that area. I could not in good concious recommend it to any of my friends or family. Sometimes a cheap price is not always the best thing.

got checked into our room after enjoying the afternoon in j'ville.the room was very clean and stocked with towels.walked to the courtyard to swim in the pool for a bit before turning in for an early flight out.after checking out,the night attendant called for the shuttle which was very prompt to take us to the airport at 4:30 in the morning.parked our vehicle up front by the office as we were gone for a week.called the hotel for our shuttle at the airport and once again very prompt service,as the driver dropped us right off at our vehicle.

We stayed for three nights and the rooms were clean and they had sufficient towels and supplies. Security seemed to be good as well. We had to extend our stay an extra night and there was no problem keeping the same room at the same rate. The staff was very helpful and pleasant which is a welcome find when traveling. When I stop in Jacksonville again I will have no problem staying here again.

  • Disliked — Outside area could stand some renovation

Stayed here for a brief night before an early morning flight out of Jacksonville. The location of the hotel right outside the airport was quite convenient and was separated from the main traffic on an access road... easy on, easy off. The inn itself could use a little bit of an update on the exterior and the crowd hanging out in the courtyard at midnight was a little shady, but the room itself was clean and very comfortable. I had a good rate that included breakfast and a shuttle-option, but I had to be up before I could take advantage of it. Overall, a good value for a basic purpose. If you are visiting Jacksonville proper, I would recommend something closer to town. Going to the airport... I would have no issues booking here again.

  • Liked — Proximity to the airport at a good price
  • Disliked — Outside appearance and people hanging outside the rooms past midnight

Very clean. Large bed. Bathroom recently remodeled. Price under $60 a night. Wifi worked great. Location is nothing special, but the great customer service, cleanliness, and free breakfast make this a great economy stop. Waffles, grits, biscuits/gravy, fruit, juice, coffee at the breakfast. No problems with noise. Would definitely recommend for anyone staying in Jacksonville.

We needed a place close to the airport for an early morning flight the next day. While there were many choices, the price at Travelodge was by far the best. And, once we arrived at 10pm, they gave us a free upgrade to a suite! While our stay was quick (we left at 5am), we could not have asked for a more ideal bedroom arrangement - 2 double beds in one room, pull-out sofa in the other; 2 bathrooms.
Basic amenities - fine for a quick stay.

I arrived at the hotel around 9:30 PM tired and ready to get comfy. The night clerks were very welcoming. My clerk Julie was very helpful, smiley and knew right away what I needed without me having to tell her. Now that's excellent customer service. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast, which is included, was very good (biscuit and gravy, waffles, fruits, cereal, coffee, etc.) My kudos to Travelodge JAX and Julie for providing a great service!
