“I only wish they had an annual pass...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2013

There's a reason this place is number 1 in Jacksonville. It's amazing. I never get tired of hearing the stories of the animals that these folks rescued, or of seeing how well they are doing. These are some happy cats (and other misc. creatures). A great time for the family, for sure. Make sure to catch one of the feedings!

“Best excursion in JAX!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2013

We have lived in Jacksonville for 6 months and have been really disappointed with the lack of fun, meaningful things to do in this city. Needless to say, we found out about Catty Shack and jumped on the occasion to check it out. We absolutely loved it and would definitely go again. I think the fall and spring are the best times to visit only because I would imagine that the cats are tired and sleeping in the hot humid summer. Wear comfortable walking shoes and a light jacket if you go in Dec/Feb. The only bathroom facilities that I noticed are the porta-potties so don't drink a lot prior to going.

The money you spend to get in goes towards protecting the animals (it is entirely volunteer based) so you feel like you are doing your part in helping. Highly recommend this place for people of all ages, totally worth the drive! Oh and if you bring your kids, don't let them scream and run around, it's rude and distracting to others, plus it irritates the cats.

“Money well spent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2013

We took our 3 boys and 2 of their friends tonight for my son's 10th birthday. We had a great time watching the staff interact with the animals. They are clearly well cared for and loved. I'll be spreading the word about Catty Shack since the entire admission goes to the care of the animals.I wish we could come next week to see the 7 week old cubs make their debut!

“Very cool!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2013

This was an awesome spot to see lions and tigers closer than I ever had before. Kids ages 13, 11, and 3 all thought it was cool too! It was plain to see that all the volunteer workers there really cared about and had fun with what they do. I was apprehensive when I got there, this place has no paved lot and looked like a traveling circus in the middle of a residential area. Would have also liked to have had a good presaged photo op (maybe with a real tiger?) as it does already seem like a touristy thing to do... Like St Augustine's Alligator Farm.

We're so glad that you came out and that everyone enjoyed their visit! It is actually illegal for the public to have contact with the animals, so photo opportunities of that type are not available. It is also not in their (or your!) best interests to offer them. We want a safe and secure environment for our animals and for the public! We do welcome photos though if anyone wants to take them during their tour! Thanks so much again for visiting! We hope to see you again soon!
