Coming in from out of town for a weekend of golf and sun, my friends treated me to a meal at Marker 32. The reviews here are quite accurate. Even on a very busy Friday night, with a large wedding party taking up a large space in the side dining room, our service was excellent, as was the food and the ambiance.
The special Marker 32 oysters are simply superb. Seasoned with bacon, spinach and tomato, I could only wish that the serving were larger, as the three of us gobbled down those tasty gems in a hurry. The scallop cerviche, our second appetizer, was an excellent mixture of tender scallops and seasonings.
The entrees were just as yummy. I am in constant search of the "perfect" crab cake, and the Florida crab cake here has delicate pieces of Florida crab (not lump) mixed with a minimal of filler. The accompanying sauce is an exceptional compliment. My friends had Pompano fish and tuna, both executed beautifully.
Our server spent many minutes talking about the menu and his suggestions were spot on. Our drink orders were taken promptly, and our bread basket was never empty! (The bread selections, btw, were varied and fresh!)
What is nice about Marker 32 is that it's an upscale venue that feels very homey, not stuffy or pompous. The manager actually came over after our meal and asked us about the food and service. When management cares enough to ask about how your experience was, then you know that this restaurant cares about the details.
Located on the inter-coastal waterway, just over the bridge into Jacksonville Beach, Marker 32 is a great local stop for scrumptious seafood.
