My coworkers and I ate dinner here last night. I was excited to see that Meiomi was on their wine list as it is one of my favorite Pinot Noir's and I will say that they had a nice wine list. I started with a side Caesar salad which was huge and delicious; two people really could have split this. For my entree I had the NY Strip with the not your ordinary mac and cheese; the steak was the most tender NY strip I have ever tasted, it had a wonderful crust on the outside and was served with an herbed butter melting on top, it was amazing! The mac & cheese was outstanding, it had a gruyere Swiss cheese and I believe our server also said there was parmesan and bread crumbs. It came out piping hot and is one of the best macaroni and cheese dishes ever, just as good as the lobster mac and cheese at Capital Grille. Everyone loved their meals (several of us order the NY strip and the NYO mac and cheese). We each had a different dessert from the menu and they were all fabulous. Our server was excellent, very attentive and knowledgeable of the menu.
So why did I only give them an 'average' rating? When I made the 5:30 reservation for a party of 7, the person who took my reservation asked if we would be done in 2 hours. I was put off by this, we are coming to your restaurant to drink and eat and you get to add automatic gratuity, are you really that concerned with turning your tables that you would risk upsetting a large party? Apparently so because at 7:31 (I am not kidding) the manager very slowly walked passed our table and very obviously glared at us. We got the hint and left, my advice to you is this: this restaurant would be fine for a party of 2 or 4 (if you don't over stay your welcome) but not a large party or business dinner, especially if you plan to chat and have a few drinks before and after dinner. Also, they do not take reservations on the weekend.
