First things first. If you're travelling with an animal, it's difficult to find an acceptable place to stay that isn't a dump. If you're a frequent traveler with an animal, you probably know from Red Roof Inns, (along with La Quinta and, (gasp!) Motel 6.)
This location was clean, (I didn't see any of the problems that the other posters noted), and right off of I-95, about a 1/2 hour from the Georgia State line. The intersection is easy to miss though, you need to make a right-hand, 180 degree U-Turn from the Airport Road towards the BP and Denny's, then continue until the service road ends at the Red Roof. Nothing special, but the pool is nice and the location is quiet. Denny's, Waffle House and Panera Bread are nearby, in case you don't want to go into downtown Jacksonville for a meal.
I was especially pleased with the customer service when I thought I had left my phone in the room after I checked out. The front desk clerk made me a new key, and when I still couldn't locate it she took down my home number and promised to call if it was turned in. I found it later, but really appreciated the extra helpful service!
