“I just took $38 and lit it on fire”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2013

I know I am not getting my money back but I don't care. I'm packing and leaving. I got a "good room above the pool" as it was put. Screaming kids at the pool, as to be expected. I called to see when the pool closes and they said it doesn't. Open all night. I just took $38 and lit it on fire. Nasty room. I was stupid to think it would be ok for a night. Lots of people here, though, so I doubt my report nor the others will put them out of business and they will continue to be nasty. Proof bathroom floor not cleaned since 20th century: a screw lying under the sink with a rust ring around it.

We have stayed in a number of Motel 6's. We travel with our dog and appreciate their pet-friendly policy. Must say tho that this one is near the bottom of list. Staff helpful, but environment extremely seedy. People hanging around, yelling, etc. Internet was terrible. Took forever to get a connection and very slow. The room had a phone of course....but no phone cord. The building and room were rundown. Avoid if possible. The Jacksonville Motel 6 on Dix Ellis is much better.

I work with FEMA disaster relief and during disasters like Hurricane Irene last year i spend months on the road . Last year i spent maybe 3 months all over NY, NJ and PA and long ago found Motel6 to be a reasonably priced place , always clean and comfortable / and when your working long days that is all you need / they always offer for a few extra dollars a small fridge and micro. And i probably stayed in 10 -15 different Motel6 's over those three states and never hesitated to book another wherever i went as they were always reliable and consistant . Recently i had a FEMA recertification class in Jacksonville FL and figured rather than drive early in the am I'd go the night befor and stay in old reliable Motel 6 in Jacksonville / called to reserve a room and first dissapointment as they have never had fridge and micros . ok i packed a cooler and made the best of it
Checked in late / front desk girl friendly and quick as expected . went to my room / half the lights were out - No toilet paper in bathroom sheets were used / ok too late to do anything - went to lobby to get ice - two ice machines -both broken WOW. No alarm clock / slept on top of dirty sheets and used napkins for toilet paper/ tried to take a shower the shower handle was broken - gave up went to sleep- about 6 am I felt water on my head - ceiling was leaking then started leaking from every light fixture anf vent in ceiling / couldn't shave or do anything / rushed to gather my stuff and shove it in my car before all was ruined / called office they came 15 minutes later ( didn't believe me) saw the disaster said they would refund my payment ( two weeks and still don't see refund) didn.t offer another room so I could get dressed - just ran offf to see what the problem was on second floor / bottom line this motel is a disaster and a disgrace to the excellant accomodations I have found in every Motel 6 I have encountered

Room Tip: avoid this motel 6 at all cost

Worst Motel 6 I ever stayed in. Toilet wasn't cleaned properly, TV reception was poor, room had a funny odor and there was little hot water. If this place was supposed to be refreshed I can only guess the state of it before.Would never stay there again

This was, by far, the most disgusting room I've ever stayed in. In fact, the room itself and the surrouding atmosphere were so terrible, that my brother and I left in the middle of the night for a different hotel and requested our money back on the room. I had reserved a non-smoking room, and when we opened the door (room 120), the room WREAKED of smoke and there was an ashtray next to my bed. Before we even touched the beds, there were multiple hairs on our sheets and pillows. The mattresses were yellow, and there were stains on the sheets. The bathroom ceiling had black mildew/mold all over it. The bathroom sink did not drain and would just fill up with water. The toilet looked dirty, as though we'd contract some sort of virus from using it. The shower stall had what appeared to be rust on the floor. Our housekeeper, Tamika, clearly wasn't very thorough, although she didn't have a whole lot to work with. We checked in around 12:30am and a very large group of individuals at the property next door started street racing soon after. We heard yelling, arguing, and engines revving until approximately 3am. The yelling continued outside our door, and at one point, I heard someone yell to another person, "I have any kind of Dope you need." The final straw was when roaches started crawling out of our air conditioning unit (which was broken and not turned on). We called the office to ask for a refund, and the girl said we'd have to come to the front desk for her to give us one. We were scared to walk to the front desk, so we had to wait 30 minutes for the police to arrive and break up the arguing people outside our door. Meanwhile, the roaches were crawling around the floor. We finally made it to the front desk, and it took the girl 20 minutes to give us our refund, because she said she'd never done one before. I'm AMAZED she's never had to give a refund. We called a taxi to take us to our next hotel, and the taxi driver told us that this particular Motel 6 is notorious for drug activity and being a PIT. He told us he always carries a loaded weapon on his lap when he drives through that neighborhood. When I booked this room online, it was listed as REFRESHED! If THAT was REFRESHED I would HATE to have seen what it was before!! I have stayed at Motel 6's before and not had a problem, but after this experience, it is unlikely that I will ever stay in a Motel 6 again, let alone recommend them to others. I would hate for other people to have the same experience. What a nightmare.

I stayed here one night with a family member. The lady at the front desk was cheerful and polite. Our room faced the street, which is literally the freeway off-ramp making it noisy, especially if a large truck is passing by. I suspect it's less of an issue if your room faces the other direction. The room had a faint "old smoke" smell, as though someone had possibly had a cigarette indoors a few weeks ago, but nothing to write home about. However, the bedsheets were clean and smelled fine, the bathroom was clean, and overall everything met my Motel-6-expectations--cheap and convenient. This isn't the Hyatt after all.
