On our first stopat this resteraunt, we circled the parking lot, but did not go in. We knew that Cowder Ted's had some gret reviews on Trip Advisor, but from itsoutward appearance, we ust weren't sure it was our kind of place. This was a mistake!
Later, I had a chance to ask some Jacksonville locals about the restaurannt and they confirmed that it is in fact a Jacksonville landmark., so we went back to give it a try. This is a fun place to eat, with really good food! Make no mistake, the dining room is small and rustic and your fellow diners may include locals from all walks of life who, like ourselves, have discovered a great place to eat.
My wife tried the fish sandwich, which she rated among the best ever, and I had their oyster po boy and a half pot of the tomato base fish chowder, which was excellent.
If the parking lot is full, finding an empty table in the dining room may be a challenge, but my advice is to go on inside and see what the hostess can do for you. Eating at Chowder Ted's is a fun experience that you shouldn't be quick to pass up.
