“Just do it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2013

On our first stopat this resteraunt, we circled the parking lot, but did not go in. We knew that Cowder Ted's had some gret reviews on Trip Advisor, but from itsoutward appearance, we ust weren't sure it was our kind of place. This was a mistake!

Later, I had a chance to ask some Jacksonville locals about the restaurannt and they confirmed that it is in fact a Jacksonville landmark., so we went back to give it a try. This is a fun place to eat, with really good food! Make no mistake, the dining room is small and rustic and your fellow diners may include locals from all walks of life who, like ourselves, have discovered a great place to eat.

My wife tried the fish sandwich, which she rated among the best ever, and I had their oyster po boy and a half pot of the tomato base fish chowder, which was excellent.

If the parking lot is full, finding an empty table in the dining room may be a challenge, but my advice is to go on inside and see what the hostess can do for you. Eating at Chowder Ted's is a fun experience that you shouldn't be quick to pass up.

“Worth going out of our way”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2013

We read the reviews on here and decided to find this place when heading home from Florida to North Carolina. We were tired of fast food and theme park food. We ordered the trigger fish sandwiches with jalepeno slaw. It was great! We were sorry they were out of the famous chowder but we were all happy that we trusted other positive reviews on here and went out of our way to find this gem. They were very busy but the waitress did a great job keeping up with everyone and being attentive.

“To die for!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2013

This a must do if in the Jacksonville area. The food is awesome. Just be sure to bring cash as they don't accept credit cards. With that said the prices can't be beat. We liked it so much we came back again while visiting Jacksonville. Unfortunatly, the second time we was on a Sunday and they were closed. We were so disappointed as we were really looking forward to eating here again. We will be back!

“Lunch”

A great place for seafood, typical hole in the wall, but great food and atmosphere. It is consistently good from its Signature Chowder (nice tomato based Manhattan style - a good spicy soup).

“Wonderful food and service. Thank you trip advisor.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 13, 2012

2 daughters, their husbands, my husband and I ate the night before leaving for a cruise on Dec. 7th. I had the fried shrimp, we tried the conch fritters for an appitizer, others had the grouper sandwich and chowder. Everything was perfectly prepared and served. We could not have hoped for a better begining of our time together on the cruise. If you cross the bridge, you passed it. Well worth turning around for...
