Had been wanting to try this place for a little while.... the outside is a little deceiving of the inside decor. Once I entered, although it is not a cafeteria style setting, that was the overall feel I got.... and the food was ok, also reminded me of a cafeteria.... glad I went, but I won't be returning.

Excellently prepared basic diner food -- a huge menu! -- in clean, bright decor with friendly service. Great prices and generous portions. Not for a fancy dinner --- but for good eats at a reasonable price, excellent.

We stopped for lunch after asking the ranger at the Vanderbilt mansion for a suggestion. He said both diners in Hyde Park were good so we decided to try Pete's. The menu offers lots of choices as well as daily specials that are presented separately. Prices were reasonable and our party chose three different sandwiches. All were very good and come with a pickle and a side of coleslaw. This was a nice break before moving on to more sightseeing.

There are not a lot of restaurants to choose from in Hyde Park and we feel that Pete's is the best of the lot. There is a great selection of meals, the atmosphere is nice and relaxing, the place is extremely clean, the food is good and the workers are friendly. On top of all that, the prices are reasonable. you will be happy you stopped here
