On a driving trip that happened to include a stop in Hyde Park, we had the name of 2 Taste come up twice when we asked for restaurant recommendations, although neither recommending party had actually been there themselves. They were, therefore, somewhat suspect recommendations, but ones that we very glad to have gotten after dining at 2 Taste.
Although we did not have reservations, and the place was pretty busy, we were seated straight-away with a choice of a booth or the food bar overlooking the chefs and the open kitchen. And by overlooking, I mean sitting about 5 feet away from the stove where most of the evenings entrees were being prepared. Sitting so close, watching the CIA-trained chef and sous-chef at work, and being able to talk with them about what they were preparing made the evening into a wonderful experience. The chefs were friendly, engaging and very open to our questions and comments.
And, yes, the food was excellent. The mussel appetizer was terrific, my wife's bouillabaisse was truly wonderful and the salmon entree was very enjoyable. We enjoyed some interesting salads and desserts that were more than we needed, but very original and excellent.
Friendly staff, reasonable prices, some innovative food ideas, an interesting (and reasonably-priced) wine list and overall a food experience worth trying. Highly recommend.
