“A Presidential visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2013

I googled places to visit not more than 3 hours away from where we live, and this came up. I am glad we did, because I learned a whole lot of information I never knew about FDR and Eleanor. It was so trilled to see his old home and where he is buried next to his wife. Such a simple burial, ground. The guides were also very knowledgeable and we were happy with the whole tour as well as the shop.

“THE Model for Pesidential Libraries”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2013

The childhood home and adjacent library are a great tribute to this great president. It's amazing that such a privileged man was also Everyman.

Plan to spend a good part of your day at this venue. Whereas the house tour is about an hour, with some walking from the visitor center to the homesite, the rest of the grounds and library will take at least another 2 hours. It is nice that the ticket is good for 2 days at the library. Don't miss the basement of the library, where you can see FDR's vast boat model collection and custom ford

“newly renovated”

Great use of voices (fireside chats), videos, and gave a very moving and interesting history lesson, from the depression right through WWII. Excellent stop.

“Remarkable tribute to a remarkable man”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2013

I have been here twice now and would go again in a heart beat. FDR's presidency covered such a tumultuous period in modern history, and this museum/library does a wonderful & engaging job to telling that story. I had my 9 year old nephew with me on my last visit, and he was fascinated by the interactive features, videos and audio clips. This is not strictly a political/historical record of FDR's tenure----there's also a wealth of social history and many interesting artifacts of daily life in the US during the Depression and WWII. The whole story is told with such clarity and with such a command of the entire period that you can't help but feel you've stepped back in time. No matter how much you think you know about FDR or his presidency, you'll come away knowing, and appreciating, much more.

“Could have spent another 2 hours!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2013

Fascinating! There are so many films to view and pictures to look at. A history lesson in the Great Depression. There is a lot to learn about Eleanor Roosevelt also. I visited with my cousin, can't wait to return and take my husband. Carve out enough time for yourself. Really not appropriate for young children.
