“Great Location on Battlefield”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2013

This Quality Inn is excellent! It is located right next to the famous 'railroad cut' and looks over McPherson's Ridge where much of the first day of fighting occured. The hotel is well-kept, extremely clean with well-manicured grounds. For the price and location, it CANNOT be beat. Make General Lee's Headquarters your Gettysburg address!

Room Tip: All rooms are well-appointed and 'silent' despite being right on Route 30!

This is a run of the mill Quality Inn, but it enjoys an exceptionally strategic location that affords a view of the battlefield. The adjacent restaurant is a treat and don't miss their root beer. I took home a case!

My wife and I took our 14-year old grandson to Gettysburg last month for a tour of the battlefield and stayed here for three nights. All three of us, young and old, enjoyed the stay. The room was large enough that we weren't stumbling over each other. We had originally requested a suite, but there were none available at the time we needed it, but the young lady to whom we were speaking managed to put us into a larger-than-normal room. (At least larger than the room I was in during my first stay here several years ago). It had a couch (actually a pull-out bed) that we could relax on while watching TV. The room was clean and quiet. My grandson and I enjoyed the pool every evening. The breakfast was adequate, if not exciting. at least the breakfast room (and the menu) has been expanded since I was there last. The Appalachian brew pub, just across the parking lot from our room, was a great resource for those who have been on the go all day and don't want to go out again. We ate there every night and actually brought home a case of their root beer to Sam's delight. Great location, friendly efficient staff. We also enjoyed the appearance of a woodchuck munching on the grass outside our window every evening.

This hotel was in a great location right outside of downtown Gettysburg. I preferred this location to downtown because it was easy in/out. We bought our bikes and could easily ride to past on battlefield tour. Kids liked the pool. Breakfast was standard.
Rooms were definitely outdated and smelled old and musty(as did the lobby), but for the price it was good. We were around the other side from the lobby entrance and parking was a little tight. Staff very friendly.

Room Tip: Rooms facing lobby entrance/pool would be preferred.

My father in law and myself stayed here two nights in July, 2013 (on advice of my brother, who had stayed here in a previous year). We were very satisfied.
First of all, I try to run 3 miles every morning, and Confederate Avenue is literally across the street, and provides a beautiful run along the line where Pettigrew/Pickett/Trimble formed for their charge (the halfway point in the run is the Wilcox line). It was a great run past the monuments and the "ghosts".
As far as the accommodations, they were clean and well maintained.
The breakfast was good, though the serving area is a bit small, so it can get a little congested.
The staff was very pleasant and helpful ... particularly when I needed directions.
For location and pleasant accommodations I recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: We had the end room near the driveway that leads to the ice machine ... it was very quiet.

Location, location.. This motel is on the battlefield! Very clean rooms with a staff that doesn't sit still. Some of the rooms have period furniture (or close). The grounds are very well kept. If you're into ghosts, this is a good place to start looking, at least in the room we had anyway. The device we have literally remained pegged in our room. Nice pool and very close to all the amenities.

The grounds of this hotel were well kept and the location was perfect for touring the battlefields. The room (we had a suite in the back of the property) was clean but could have used some attention. The lamp shades were dirty, and the walls although not bad could've used some touching up. Somehow the well kept look of the grounds was not exactly transferred to the inside. Breakfast was good, nice set-up, but on a busy day it doesn't appear there would be enough seating. Overall, not a bad place to stay but if we returned to the area we would probably look elsewhere.
