“Nice clean basic accomodations, good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2013

Just back from a weekend stay w/ my two kids. The hotel is centrally located. The rooms are large (huge!) and in decent condition. The hotel was clean. The kids loved the indoor pool and spent hours there. It is small, but nice for elementary aged children. There is a small hot tub as well. The outdoor pool was not yet open for the season. The room was quiet and the beds were comfortable. The breakfast was only so-so - I've had better at other Choice Hotel locations - but it was included in the room price and served its purpose. The hotel is an easy walk to shops and resaurants.

Room Tip: Room 202 was large and quiet. Very little street noise.

Staying here puts you in the heart of the battlefields. That was lovely.
The hotel is dated. The breakfast is so-so (no apple or orange juice when we were there). We had to change rooms after one night because we found out our shower didn't work. That was a real pain. No compensation for the trouble.
We did eat at the ABC restaurant - it was good. They were out of their homemade chips which was a bummer.
This is a hotel for a definitively older crowd. One too many conversation about wills and hauling mothers ashes in the trunk at breakfast.
Tip - we were made to feel bad because we booked with Travelocity. The person checking us in was exasperated by that and kept mentioning it. Also that we used a debit card. Just struck us that we were "good enough" because we used those tools.

It was fine. We won't stay there again.

We have stayed here the past 2 years for the Applefest in October and we have loved it, the location is perfect because you can take the back roads to the other end of town and you are already on the battle field. The staff have always been great and the breakfest is perfect.

Our third time staying here and would not stay anywhere else in Gettysburg. First time we stayed in the Lower Dustman which was a beautiful room. The next two times we stayed across the road in the gen Buford suite. Very nice little two bedroom house with full kitchen two bathrooms. Also have own driveway. Resturant on site. Breakfast wasn't the best but adequate.

This Quality Inn was a motor court type hotel and as I understand one of the first Quality Inns in the country. It has a platinum level rating. It was very clean and comfortable with a breath taking view of the Gettysburg Battlefield. The staff was very friendly and enthusiastic about their motel. We enjoyed the General Lee Headquarters Museum on the premises. Breakfast was included and delicious.

Room Tip: Our room was quiet and comfortable.

This review is long, but I think you will find it worth it!

This Quality Inn was the first one ever built in the country and has a platinum level rating. We came in around dinner time. We got a large, comfortable room with a view of the Battlefield. The views were incredible. I have never seen anything like it. The area itself is full of scenic beauty and obviously history. I can't believe it was only around $100 for a Kingsize bed. They have accomodations of various sizes. You can talk to the staff about any special needs. It is all on one floor where we stayed. Don't be put off because it is Motel Style. There are other accomodations that are not like that. The advantage here is that you do not have to get a dolly or go down long corridors with your luggage. This is ideal for elderly or large people that way. There is a hot buffet in the morning, included. The staff is very hospitable. If they have time, ask them to tell you about their "Ghost" experiences." Nothing scary every happened, though. I do not travel in 5 star or expensive hotels as a rule, and am VERY demanding. Staying there is an experience I will never forget. If you stay in the summer when it is hot there is an outdoor pool. Book as early as you can. It is hard to get in there depending when you go. Rates will also change depending when you go. Staff will help you pick a good restaurant. We tried an Irish Pub--Gary Owen--search the net for other opinions Re: Gary Owen Irish Pub.Fine dining in a beautiful pub atmosphere with very reasonable prices featuring entertainment at times. I don't have to tell you if you have been to Gettysburg the number of things to do there, especially if you are into the Civil War. By the way, this is the 150th Anniversary of the Battle that happened in July. They have gone all out with a new $1.1 million Dollar Visitor Center. OMG!!! I am forgetting the best part here! There is a free Museum and gorgeous gift shop with beautiful but reasonably priced items--kind of boutique crosses souvenir shop. We went to other souvenir shops in town--many of them. The ones we saw were kind of junky. Shop around if you want the best price, but we found them reasonable here with a very good selection. DON'T MISS IT. If you decide not to stay here, at least visit for this part of a Gettysburg Experience. I am not sure if I am allowed to use her name, but ask for CAROLINE who is something of a historian. She left a high-paying job in Vegas to live here and work a low-paying front desk job because she is so passionate about Gettysburg. She usually works the graveyard shift, and can give you an incredibly detailed account of the area as well the "Spirits" that surround this Hotel--I find it interesting that she says they do not like to be called "ghosts" ;which has a scary connotation. She also says they will not appear if they think they will scare you. I couldn't sleep during the night due to coughing from allergies. She was so kind and caring and in a motherly sort of way encouraged me to go back to bed so I could enjoy the area the next day--can you believe that? ?!? OK, so I am biased about her now that she was so endearing. lol. I am also biased about this place now, so keep that in mind. But service was excellent as well as the COMPLETE AND TOTAL experience here.

Room Tip: See if you can get the wing with the best views. If you are facing the clerk when you check in, the...

Perfect hotel for a weekend getaway to Gettysburg with my boyfriend. Room was clean and spacious and the overall area was quiet. Delicious restaurant on the premise (try the root beer!) as well as General Lee's Headquarters museum which is free. Also the continental breakfast was delicious! It was amazing to wake up each morning and look out on the first day's battlefield! Would definitely stay there again!
