“Great location and good value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2010

Let me say first off that I wanted to keep within a certain budget when I planned our trip to Gettysburg and while there are lots of old hotels and cozy B&Bs, they were all charging more than I wanted to pay.

I wasn't looking for a hotel that had 5-star accomodations, I just wanted something locted close to the battlefield that was clean and had a clean and relatively comfortable bed. This hotel served those purposes quite well. It is very close to the battlefield and you can walk to a number of different places.

Our room was clean and has a clean bathroom with towels and a hairdryer. It also had a small fridge. We used the free wireless Internet connection with no problem although you do need a password that you can get from the front office.

The "free continental breakfast" was not fancy. It consists of juice, coffee, bagels, fruit and a few other odds and ends, but the place it is served is pretty clean and they were well stocked with food items.

We only ever planned to use the hotel as a place to sleep at night so why pay a lot of money for a place when we always planned on spending the majority of our time out exploring the battlefield and the city. This was a good price and I feel we got our money's worth.

I loved this hotel. A far cry from Ritz Carlton but when in Gettysburg, you don't spend much time there anyways. This hotel was great for our purpose. It was away from chaos that was downtown (construction and traffic) and it was close to the battle field (Cemetery Ridge and the Pennsylvania Monument). In short, it offered great access to desired areas while avoiding a hectic downtown. The price was reasonable, the rooms were clean, and the bed was comfortable. I have absolutely no complaints which is why it gets my 5 star rating. Unless you desire to be pampered and have every 5 star amenity available to you, I recommend this place when visiting Gettysburg...and they don't come much more finnicky than me (just check my input on Pickett's Buffet which sets only a couple hundred yards away from the hotel).

Most definitely not the nicest place I have stayed. On the plus side, it was VERY clean and had a superb location. It also accepts dogs, which is nice. But other than that, it was really pretty poor. The furniture and decor were original to about 1963 and very ugly. The TV was fuzzy (I wonder how many times they split one cable) and the wireless internet service stunk. Only one tiny window opened, there were no vents or windows in the bathroom and we had to run the AC the whole time. The complementary toiletries were beyond cheap, and the "deluxe continental breakfast" was such a lie it wasn't funny. If all you want is a place to dump your stuff to visit things in Gettysburg, then this place is fine for a few nights. But if you are staying longer or want something nicer/more romantic/better amenities, find someplace else.

The biggest positive I have to give this place is that it is pet friendly. There aren't too many pooch friendly motels in Gettysburg. We were given a pet room and the hotel did not charge extra for the dog. The room we got was no frills or special, a second floor 2 double bed with balcony. If you are expecting Hilton forget it, this is motel 6 equivalent. Wireless internet is included as is a continental breakfast. Breakfast consists of breads, cereal, donuts, fruit, coffee, juice. There is an area behind the hotel which is good for walking your pet. For longer walks, you can take your pet through the battlefield park nearby. The motel is situated near the Gettysburg National cemetery and battlefield. It is also within walking distance of several restaurants and shops.

We stayed here one night with our German Shepherd....they didn't charge us a pet fee, which was a nice surprise! The night we stayed there was a Greyhound adoption event going on so there were lots of dogs but it was pretty quiet overall... You can't beat the price and location; it is within walking distance to downtown Gettysburg and to the battlefield. The front desk ladies were friendly and the accomodations were pretty good. This isn't the fanciest place to stay, but if you have pets and want to stay in a convenient location, you can't beat this place!

America's best Value Inn was on the pricey side for being a value Inn at about $84.00. The carpets in the hallways are pretty worn but it appears they have kept it up. The room was a double and was clean and roomy. The complimentary breakfast was ok but I have seen better. There is an out door pool but it wasn't open yet. There is a Hot tub on site and it looked inviting but I didn't use it. It appears this hotel is very pet friendly and I am too, except my next door neighbor left his room to his dog who barked for an hour before I called the front desk. Still there is not much the management can do, if the owner is gone. I would only stay here again if I couldn't find something better for the same price.

my familys first time in geetysburg, this hotel was in a great location we did not have to drive our car anywhere except for the auto tour. the milatary park was right across the street which was great for our dogs. restraruants was right out front, the room was very clean and the front desk was very nice. the only problem we had was we had to keep getting our room key remagnatized. didn't eat breakfast there we went to friendlys which was right out front of the hotel. we look forward to going back!
