“Nice hotel - great location!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2010

Stayed here over New Years Eve for two nights in the "annex", which is directly behind the hotel for $64.00 a night....can't beat that!! Room was spotless and it pretty much had everything you would need including a refrigerator which worked out great for us staying two nights. Small complaints would be TV reception not the greatest and not all that many tv channels, walls are a little thin and no safe in the room. Actually these complaints are hardly worth mentioning - none of them bothered us.

We went to the Cashtown Inn for New Years Eve dinner ,which was great and hit the square for midnight - a perfect New Years Eve!! I would like to come back next year and do exactly the same thing.

Hotel staff was unaccomadating. Hotel was more like a glorified motel at best--out side hall ways with little or know security.

Recently stayed at the Inn overnight, and loved how close we were to everything in town. We were minutes from a number of great shops, ghost tours, and the battlefield. Used to be a Holiday Inn. The new owners have done some nice updates, and the staff is very friendly. We were espcially surprised to see such an interesting dinner menu (lobster ravioli, cajun chicken alfredo, etc). All the small restaurants in town were packed with an hour long wait, so we decided to try the inn's restaurant. We were seated and served immediately, and the food was really good. Don't try: Lobster Ravioli. DO TRY: Braised Short Ribs - YUM!!!
Because it looks out over one of the main roads into Gettysburg, it can be a little noisy, but to be able to walk everywhere was well worth it.

The staff is very courteous and helpful. Our room was clean, comfortable and quiet at night. We had breakfast in their restaraunt and the food was fresh, hot and served served in a timely manner by a very pleasant server. The price is average for a tourist town. Location. Location. Location. It is in the middle of many historical attractions. I can't think of one negative thing to say about them. Keep up the good work!

Paid $92 through Travelocity. Check in was quick and the young lady at the front desk was very nice. Our room with a king sized bed was on the back side of the hotel on ground level directly beside the pool and was very spacious and appeared very clean. The bathroom was also very spacious. The only complaints I had about the room was a slight mildew smell around the shower but to my eyes the bathroom appeared very clean. A few of the pillows had a smell like someone had already slept on them. And the TV looked very fuzzy even after adjusting the settings. The bed was very comfortable, firm but not overly so. The combination heater/ac looked fairly new and worked well. We ate dinner at J's At The Village, ranked by tripadvisor.com as the #1 restaurant in Gettysburg. Just walk across the side parking lot and cross the street and you are there.
For history buffs and ghost hunters, the side of the hotel we stayed on is directly adjacent to the Jennie Wade house. I ducked around the corner by our room to smoke a cigarette at a small bench and receptacle provided by the hotel and the JW house is literally about 15 feet away. I sat there for about 15 minutes and listened to two different ghost tours that walked through while I was there. The hotel is a bit odd because it is a multi story building with all of the rooms opening to the outside. High speed internet is free but is not wireless. We didn't have a pet with us but saw where pets are allowed at the hotel. Check out was also quick and painless.
We had no problems or major complaints and for the right price would stay there again.

Great location but overpriced (paid $129 a night for a small room with two double bed).
The phrase that springs to mine is "sweat the assets". This hotel is in a great location but because of that they have not made any improvements in the last say 30 years (just a guess!) The mattresses were squishy. There was no refrigerator in the room. Bathroom was a decent size. Access to the room is from the outside which gives it a cheap motel feel. There is no indoor pool. There was a breakfast buffet for like $10 per person which was fine (although service was spotty).
On the upside it was clean and there was plenty of parking and it was a good location- could walk to the ghost tours and shops etc. But because of that it was noisy- we were on the street side and could hear the traffic all night long.
If I had to do it again I would stay somewhere a bit further away (quieter) with a pool and bigger rooms with a fridge, probably at a much lower price.

Pros: great location close to everything, clean rooms, quiet A/C unit so you can sleep well at night, comfy beds, free parking. Cons: some corridors smell of pets because it's a pet friendy hotel; all rooms have entrances on the outside which gives a feeling of a cheap motel; elevators were dirty; windows can't be opened in the rooms at all, over rated as a 3- star and overpriced-we got a night for 107$+ tax on hotwire which I think it's too much for what it has to offer; we won't stay here again in Gettysburg; Comfort Suites opened a new hotel down the road and is rated as a 2-star, but it looks definitely better than this one and the price is also cheaper.
