“Quaint hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2013 via mobile

Very quiet hotel in a nice area of town. Everything is right there close within walking distance. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Very pet friendly with a huge area to walk them in the back of the hotel. However, the only downfall is, the pet area could have used a little more light. Those late night walks were a little bit creepy. All in all a great hotel and a wonderful location.

We stayed here for a couple of days during our trip to different destinations in the USA. On arrival we were greeted by very friendly, helpful reception staff. Our King size bed was lovely and comfortable. The room and hotel was lovely and clean and an added bonus was we had a bath as well as a shower. There was coffee making facilities in our room and you could get coffee and tea in the reception area any time of the day. The hotel gave us complimentary breakfast which was also really good. Free Wi-Fi was really useful for us as being from the UK we could use my I Pad to access info. The swimming was very welcome after a day in the heat visiting The Gettysburg Battle Fields. You don't need to be worried about parking as there is ample parking spaces for all and its free to park. The tour bus that takes you round the battle fields can be picked up next to the hotel so no long walks to get it. If we are thinking of going back to Gettysburg I would definitely go back to this Hotel and would recommend it.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the pool are quieter than the road side

We arrived here as part of our East Coast road trip, at first the hotel seems enormous for the size of the town, more like a motel also, but reception staff were friendly, our room had 2 double beds was exceptionally clean, had free wifi-happy teenager and a pool! Nice surprise, as the heat has been unbelievable. We stayed for 3 nights and spent two days doing the Gettysburg auto tour. Where the hotel let itself down was the truly awful breakfast, I have never seen anything like it, the first morning when I entered the windowless breakfast room, I thought I had entered a zoo, TV blaring horrid processed microwaveable everything, plastic crockery and utensils and sausage gravy! Probably the most disgusting thing I have ever seen! Even the jam was artificial! So avoid breakfast it is scary but everything else great including laundry facility. Good value for money

Room Tip: Go for one on the back very quiet

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your visit. Overall it appears that you enjoyed your stay-clean room, freindly staff and a great pool! I was a bit surprised by your comments regarding our FREE breakfast. The breakfast room is very comfortable. There is a very large overflow area right outside the main room that faces the front of the building. The wall to that area is nothing but windows. Very bright and cheery as well as quiet. We would have been happy to adjust the volume on the big screen TV. There is a Breakfast Attendant on duty at all times. As for the selection of items on the FREE breakfast bar-we offer a very nice variety of items. Something for everyone. Our guests want something that is quick and easy and we feel that what we have is sufficient. Most non-franchise hotels do not offer the wide selection that we do. There is also a number of full service restaurants in the area. Although not free, you do have the option. Again, thank you for the review. We are glad that you were happy with the cleanliness of your room and the staff here at the hotel. Those are 2 very important factors when choosing lodging in any town. Have a great Summer!

Sincerely,

Norma Herring

My wife and I just spent 3 days at Gettysburg and stayed at the 1863 Inn of Gettysburg. We would highly recommend this hotel. It was very clean, excellent location in the heart of Gettysburg, free parking and free Breakfast. The staff was very friendly and professional.

Found it on the Internet and I'm glad I did. I booked directly and got a great price. Spacious extremely clean accommodations with all the perks needed, wireless, coffee in rooms. Very friendly staff. Perfect downtown location. If your going to Gettysburg stay here.

We made yet another trip to Gettysburg and stayed at our favorite place......1863 Inn of Gettysburg. We can not say enough good things about the hotel and the wonderful people who work there. The front desk staff is so friendly and the rooms are neat and clean. We once again requested a room on an upper floor in the front of the building and they accommodated us without a problem. We love the front of the hotel because it allows you to see all that is going on in the town! They have a very nice "express" breakfast in the hotel which has a nice variety. It is a nice way to start your day and it is free! We have stayed at the 1863 Inn of Gettysburg 5 different times and would not even consider staying anywhere else when we visit! Already looking forward to our visit next summer.

We stayed here for just one night and were pleased with our stay. The room and bathroom were more spacious than I expected. Breakfast selection was good. We didn't have a chance to use the pool, but it was a great size! Definitely recommend for a family stay.
