“Very basic but clean and comfy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2013

This is an older motel but great for a budget. Room was clean and large. Air conditioner worked well and was quiet, somthing I always look for in a room. Nice TV, frig in room. Shortly after check-in, night manager called to see if everyhing was safisfactory and tell me if I needed anything during the night to call the front desk. That was a nice extra touch. Free breakfast was the usual you find in a hotel...cereals, bagels, danish, fresh fruit etc. Basic but good for grabbing something to get on the road.

Thank you for letting us know that you enjoyed your visit with us. We appreciate the feed back. You are correct-the building is older but we have a wonderful maintenance staff at the hotel and they do a great job keeping everything in good working order. Our rooms are clean and well appointed with all the extra goodies that the newer, higher priced hotels offer. If you are looking for something clean and friendly with a great rate-look no further! We hope that you will stop by to see us if you are ever back this way. It would be our pleasure! Thank you again for the wonderful review! See you soon!

Thanks so much,

Staff was friendly and nice, room was clean and comfortable, and the location was in the middle and near a lot of wonderful things. I was a bit concerned about the outside entrances on the rooms in regard to the noise, but since it's located in an area with shops, restaurants and such, everything closes down fairly early and it was pretty quiet. I slept very well. I would definitely stay again.

I've been staying at the 1863 since shortly after they changed from their previous name. It has always been a great visit. The employees are some of the friendliest I've run across in any city/town and extremely helpful. Rooms are clean and large. Price is great. Location can't be beat, you can park your car and walk the town. I'm usually visiting around 6+ times a year and go to them first for lodging.

Room Tip: Rooms on the back of the hotel are a bit quieter

We travel to Gettysburg every few months and ALWAYS stay here! We signed up for the loyalty rewards program too. We are always greeted in a very friendly manner and recieve a welcome gift.

We have traveled by ourselves, with our children and even with our dog, Rocky! We always find the room extremely clean (even the pet friendly rooms) and spacious.

The location is definitely worth it too! We always request (and receive) a street view, we love being able to watch everyone and see the shops from our room. Another perk is so many attractions within walking distance.

The staff is very courteous and friendly and always available to take our calls and provide anything we need.

The breakfast is amazing! So many options! The hours are great too 6:30-10:30 am. They have everything you can imagine: bagels, breakfast sandwiches, waffles, muffins, donuts, pastries, sausage and gravy, cereals, omelets and even hard boiled eggs! Fresh coffee and different kinds of flavored creamer as well as milk, apple, cranberry and orange juice!

Also with the loyalty program, its only a few dollars to sign up, you receive a discount any day of the week off your stay and you can request a late check out, up to 2pm! We take advantage of that offer every time, makes it easier to enjoy the attractions without being in a rush on your last day.

We have yet to enjoy the pool, but it seems very well maintained and clean and its a pretty good size.

Room Tip: street view rooms are not as noisy as one would think and you get a great view of the shops and attr...

We visited the battlefields of Gettysburg last weekend, and wanted a place where we could leave the car and explore by foot. The 1863 Inn is perfectly situated in town, close to bars and restaurants for meals, and adjacent to Cemetery Hill. It isn't a fancy hotel, but it was clean and comfortable and has all the basics. Breakfast was even included, although I wish they had healthier options. All of the breads were refined white breads. Some whole wheat would be appreciated (or at least Shredded Wheat without the sugar). We plan to return with our kids this summer and will definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: We stayed in the back annex and it was quiet.

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your visit. We were pleased to hear that you found your room to be clean and comfortable. Our rooms are well appointed. Each room offers a refrigerator, hair dryer, iron and ironing board and a coffee maker. Some rooms are equipped with a microwave. Our Free "Rise and Shine" Breakfast. is a huge hit. We do have a wide variety of "healthy" choices. We offer Raisin Bran cereal as well as Granola. We have no white bread on the breakfast bar. The bread is all wheat bread as well as marble. We try to provide a selection that will satisfy everyone. Our Breakfast Attendant is always available to assist you if you cannot locate an item. Thank you again for the review. We look forward to your next visit.
